Tommy Hilfiger Fall/Winter 2013-2014 RTW ” New York Fashion Week
Preppy in the most gorgeous way was the buzzword for the newest Tommy Hilfiger fall/winter 2013-2014 collection presented during New York Fashion Week. The designer of the high-end fashion house had looked to the UK and its heritage style for creating his mesmerizing fall collection, which had “Savile Row Meets Ivy League’ imprinted all over. Actually, the key inspiration of the collection was Tommy Nutter, the famous London tailor, who was dressing Mick Jagger and the Beatles guys. As a result, the catwalk was flooded with “deeper red, a deeper navy, and off-white’ looks that were mixing various fabrics, just as Nutter used to do.
Talking about the fabulous mixes of patterns and fabrics, such as combos of plaids, pinstripes, checks, tartans and more, Hilfiger noted that it was a typical Nutter style, which he loved a lot. “He was irreverent and he mixed patterns,’ he said.
The Tommy Hilfiger fall/winter 2013-2014 show opened with a range of to-die-for warm and voguish coats and separates in tartan that were paying tribute to the schoolgirl style with subtle masculine touches. There was a Prince of Wales-checkered coat, as well as fabulous shearling coats, warm toppers featuring Steiff teddy-bear fleece and khaki mackintosh coats. Besides mixing patters, Hilfiger also opted for contrasting fabric inserts, such as leather and sheer fabrics bonded to the cable knits.
Overall, the Tommy Hilfiger fall/winter 2013-2014 collection was very winter-ready and cozy. The outerwear was chic and the clothes absolutely stunning. There were also masculine striped suits in navy blue and chunky knitwear. And when it comes to the Tommy Hilfiger accessories, the looks came ideally styled with fedora hats and knitted caps, faux knee socks and penny loafers.
One thing is absolute truth about the Tommy Hilfiger fall/winter 2013-2014 collection: preppy is always cool and it’s timeless!
