Ombre Lips Tutorial
We are in love with the ombre look, whether it’s about clothes, hair or nails (Ombre Nails Tutorial). Ombre lips are, indeed, very nice and sexy. Follow the ombre lips tutorial below to learn the basics of an ombre lip application. Use different colors to check which of them creates a winning look for you.
Ombre lips look fantastic when your lips are covered with coral, pink or red lipsticks. These colors are really so nice to play with. Always remember that once you are going to put the accent on your lips, keep the rest of the makeup as simple as you can. Go for a light blush, a light one layer of mascara and a neutral eyeshadow, or no eyeshadow at all, making your lips the center of attention.
One of the advantages of the ombre lip makeup is that it creates the illusion of fuller lips, especially catering those with thin lips.
Traditional Ombre Lip Tutorial
The ombre lip is achieved through several makeup products very easily, following a couple of easy steps. For the traditional ombre lip look, you’ll need:
1. Two lipsticks, one in a darker shade and the other one in a lighter shade of the same color.
2. Lip liner in a matching or the same shade as the dark lipstick.
3. Lip brush that is convenient to work with.
Start lining your lips with a lip liner to define your lips and create an outline that will help to apply the lipstick later on. Now, apply the darker shade of lipstick.
Take a small amount of the lighter shade of lipstick with your brush and going from the inside of the lip, brush on the lipstick with quick and light dabbing motions. The essence of ombre lips is that the lips look dark on the outside and bottom area of your lips and fade into a lighter tone in the middle.
Purple Ombre Lip Tutorial
One of the ways of creating ombre lips is as follows:
Outline and fill in the outer half of your lip with a long lasting lip pencil or liquid liner in pink. Blend the lip pencil into the lips with a lip brush toward the center of your mouth.
Now, apply a purple lip color with the lip brush, smoothly overlapping over the pink liner to the center. To get a matte effect, apply a little bit of a pink eyeshadow on the lips with the help of the lip brush.
Multicolored Ombre Lip Tutorial
Like any other makeup procedure, it is important to prepare your lips for the makeup. If you have dry lips, use a lip scrub prior to the procedure. Use a clear lip liner all the way around your lips.
Next apply a thick creamy foundation to the entire lip using your fingers. It is proven that using foundation, concealer or lip primer helps to create an even surface, upon which it is easier to work. This will also keep the color consistent and fresh throughout the day.
The next step is to apply a nude lipstick to your entire bottom lip. Once you’ve well blended it, you can go for the first color. Use a lip and cheek stain in a berry color, brushing it onto your lips.
Now blend the stain out, adding a little bit at a time, as necessary, until you have three clear colors on your lower lip. The next color to add is a rose cream lip pencil that is applied on the entire top lip.
Here comes the really tricky part. Apply a deep berry red lipstick along the top half of your upper lip and blend in until the color seems not that harsh. Blend in a red with a rose shade on you upper lip. You can also apply a clear lip gloss on top.
Another much easier way of creating ombre lips is painting your upper lip in one color, and the lower one in a different one. You can work with darker and lighter shades of the same color, or go wilder and combine two different colors from the same color spectrum, like red and orange.
