Edun Spring/Summer 2013 RTW ” New York Fashion Week
Apparently, the military trend gets revived in the upcoming season, or at least at Edun. The brand’s creative director, Sharon Wauchob, showcased a military-sporty collection at New York Fashion Week, which was as interesting as wearable. The Edun spring/summer 2013 collection was all about camouflage prints, utilitarian details, army green and orange colors, modern and functional casual wear. Lingerie details, including bustier elements and elastic bra straps, made the tough masculine looks appear softer. Generally, the collection was greatly concentrated on mixing masculine inspired pieces with feminine ones.
For the new spring 2013 season, the Edun girl is bold and creative and loves to mix and match. She wears her loose pants with high heels, and not combat boots, ties a piece of fabric around her upper arm and lets her underwear pop, which is functional, yet ultra-sexy. Backstage, founder Ali Hewson said that nowadays retailers love pieces with some story behind them, such as the open-knit gilets made by the Crochet Sisters in Kenya. However, Hewson also confessed that she personally prefers the shiny stuff: “What girl doesn’t love the shiny bits?’
