Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2013 RTW ” New York Fashion Week
The New York Fashion Week is at its highest peak now and more and more gorgeous collections are getting unveiled every day. Saturday evening, the 8th of September, was remarkable, as Alexander Wang was showcasing his upcoming season collection at Pier 94. The lights went down and the podium got flooded with nine acid blond models in crisp white, silver, cream and black pieces that were glowing in the dark. The Alexander Wang spring/summer 2013 collection was extremely sophisticated, simplistic and smart, but also daring and sexy. Kind of futuristic minimalism came from the collection, which was all about intricate details, sexy cutouts and stunning embroidery.
In the upcoming warm season, the Alexander Wang woman is modern and futuristic, also touch and edgy with a subtle soft touch. Contradicting modern fashion tendencies with classical minimalism, the designer managed to create something totally sexy, light, classic and fearless. Playing with plain cuts, simple fabrics, timeless black and white hues can certainly lead to futuristic classic looks, just like the ones demonstrated at the Alexander Wang show. The designer opted for see-through cut-outs, which boosted the sexy appeal of the dresses and shorts.
The Alexander Wang spring/summer 2013 collection brings tailored shorts, feminine and seductive dresses, boxy “hockey jerseys’, lacquered porcelain helmets, shirts and much more. One of the most interesting details used was the bugle-bead embroidery done on the vertical, which gave the imitation of crocodile leather in 3D. Leather was also present in the collection, which was mostly combined with other fabrics, creating a visual interest. Black, white, gray, beige and silver were the hues used, and there was no room for prints at all. Shoes were banded up to the knee, which looked perfectly in tone with the graphic cuts of the outfits.
A few days before the show, Wang stated: “Then I wanted to start dissecting the pieces,’ he said. “So we played with the idea of suspension and tension through embroidery techniques.’
Well, no wonder, the Alexander Wang spring/summer 2013 collection was one of the most impressive and seductive lines showcased during the NYFW!
