It’s always about opulence in Zuhair Murad’s collections. The Lebanese designer presented his Fall 2018 Couture lineup filled with heavy embellishments, rich fabrics, and colors. You simply can’t divide couture from Zuhair Mourad. Glam and extravaganza are in the brand’s DNA and what the designer knows best. The Fall 2018 Couture collection is everything you’ve expected and more.
We are off to another exciting fashion event. Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week S/S 2018 kicked off on Monday, January 22. As expected, the world’s best couturiers are bringing their work to the City of Lights for the fashion-forward audience. Here they will present creations that took thousands of hours to be made, handcrafted from start to finish, by using only high-end materials. Behind each creation, there is a sewer that spent a lot of time working on every single detail from the look. And the price tag explains all the attention and the value of these couture pieces.
Dior’s magnificent show was a highlight of the first day. Maria Grazia Chiuri doesn’t give up on sending powerful messages through her designs. She focused on two colors, black and white. Maria still managed to keep things interesting, in spite of the limited range of shades. Giambattista Valli, Ralph & Russo, Proenza Schouler, and Schiaparelli are the other luxury brands that showed on day 1, whose couture collections deserve all your attention.
When you first think of haute couture fashion, there is one brand that always stands out. The almighty Karl Lagerfeld and his glorious work for Chanel are the ones that lead the game in the world of couture. After so many years in the business, bonded to the same luxury house, Lagerfeld doesn’t cease to amaze. Each of his shows is another remarkable experience, both visual and emotional.
Chanel presented its Spring/Summer 2018 Couture collection today, during day two of PHCFW. In an unexpected turn of events, Karl decided to keep things simpler than before. For the previous presentations, the legend built a small Eifel Tower inside the venue and transformed Grand Palais into a giant waterfall. This time he let the clothes do all the talking. The recognizable high-end tweed and impressive detailing were still there but done in a way that celebrates Chanel’s heritage.
Just like many times before, this Fashion Week is a magnet for celebrities that fly out to Paris just to see the outstanding creations from the front rows. Sofia Coppola, Rita Ora, Bella Hadid, and Monica Bellucci are just a part of the influencers who already showed up to cheer for their favorite designers.
Clare Waight Keller just debuted her couture collection for Givenchy today. Among the other collections that you’ll most certainly find mesmerizing from day 2 are the ones of Alexandre Vauthier and Giorgio Armani Prive. For tomorrow you can get excited about the presentations of Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad, who excel in haute couture. Day 4 is reserved for Xuan, Christophe Josse, Ronald van der Kemp and more. That is the last day of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week S/S 2018. So hang tight for another few days of exquisite fashion in the form of art.
After the long fashion month, we finally had a chance to get a first look at the bridal trends for Fall 2018. The NYBFW is much different than the regular NYFW and any fashion week in general. First of all, there is only a specific group of people interested in these shows. Second, the atmosphere is much more relaxed and lively. You usually get to sip champagne around a bunch of brides. The bridal collections aren’t usual collections. All you see is white couture gowns. Gowns that women will wear for just a day in their life but remember forever. There were multiple out-of-this-world numbers worth your attention this season. Even if you aren’t a bride to be, you must know at least someone who’s getting married.
Some designers skipped the NYBFW and presented their collection with a photo shoot. Anyway, these designs are just as good as the ones that walked runways. We wanted our best looks list to be inclusive because the future brides deserve to know all the options.
As for the bridal trends, get ready for minimalist gowns next fall. There were many heavily embellished breath-taking numbers. Anyway, a surprising number of designers designed their bridal collections with simplicity in mind. Zuhair Murad, Elie Saab, and Galia Lahav weren’t following the latest trends. These designers stayed faithful to their intricate design aesthetic. After all, that’s what they do best.
For the untraditional bride, there are a lot of options the next fall. Many designers included pantsuits, jumpsuits, bold numbers and short dresses as an alternative to the traditional bridal gown. Honestly, we loved the creativity. Brides should have a variety of options for their big day.
From Viktor & Rolf to Monique Lhuillier the designers presented many breathtaking designs in their bridal fall 2018 collections. Feast your eyes on the looks that made our hearts skip a beat.
For his Resort 2018 Collection, Zuhair Murad focused more on the everyday wear. But that doesn’t mean that he didn’t implement his recognizable glow and glamor. Rich lace, embroideries, embellishments and colorful fabrics are always a must-have in Zuhair’s collections. This collection is the perfect example of his limitless creativity and eye for detail.
For the Resort 2018 collection, Murad opted for beautiful lace in pink, black, deep red and several shades of blue. When it comes to patterns and embroidery, there are a lot of options. The designs are enriched with multicolored floral embroideries, stunning castles in the clouds, and millions of stars and starbursts. One of the most eye-catching patterns is the unicorn one.
Zuhair Murad designed a collection that has two completely different sides. One of them is dark, predominantly colored in black and dark blue hues. The other one, has a very gentle and soft note, with bright colors such as pink, baby blue, and orange.
The collection can also be divided into two more parts. There are super-elegant and breath-taking dresses, that are reserved for the red carpet. The other part is presented with pieces that are not red carpet material but are meant to be worn every day.
It is impossible to point out the most beautiful piece in a Zuhair Murad collection. In the everyday section, Murad has the perfect pants, skirts, blazers, and shirts for the contemporary working woman. A magnificent belted embellished jacket, and a dark blue trench coat, with sleeves made of lace, are one of the most prominent designs in this section.
One of the most romantic gowns in the collection is the astonishing V-neck, long-sleeved dress with embroideries of unicorns, trees, stars, and nymphs. The amazing patterns are hard to miss. The designer used the same patterns on an elegant mini dress and a classy chiffon blouse.
The designer also included several of his fabulous jumpsuits in the Resort 2018 Collection. All of them are dripping in embellishments. A deep red, pleated and wide-leg jumpsuit is one of the biggest standouts in the collection.
The Lebanese designer is famous for his whimsical and glamorous creations, that rule many red carpets. His haute couture designs are worn by celebrities such as Jenifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Katy Perry and much more. His Resort 2018 Collection is as powerful and as beautiful as all of his previous work.

The Zuhair Murad fall/winter 2017-2018 ready-to-wear collection brought a lot of fall contemporary looks out that are perfect for nearly any occasion. Cute little dresses, gowns, perfect work attire, very glamour ‘see and be seen’ outerwear and incredible workmanship were seen from the beginning to the end of the runway presentation with not a single misstep regarding the design.
Embellishments of beautifully, richly colored florals over sheers, accented with beading and feathers made an incredible choice to close the show. The textures created in his gowns are amazing, some including sheer ruffles and beading on already textured flowing skirts, feathers that float along the bottom of the gown and catch every whisper of air with each movement and even lace fringe adorning tiers of a long skirt.
There was actually quite a bit of lace used in Zuhair Murad’s fall 2017 collection – unsurprising given that lace is always popular, but the interesting details that he embellished the lace with in certain tops were mind-blowing. Aesthetically Zuhair Murad’s clothes always seem a bit daring and dramatic without creating the appearance of an attention-starving individual. Rather his clothes draw attention due to the flattering nature of their design and the embellishments that are easy to appreciate as beautifully done.
Zuhair Murad is a personal favorite for a lot of reasons. Each season he shows a beautiful collection that exemplifies understanding of the female form, incredible tailoring, elegance, chicness and drama (always the perfect amount of drama) with stunning blends and well coordinated outfits. His use of color is never overbearing and always interesting and unique, and the embellishments are fantastic in how they are chosen, placed and implemented.
Zuhair Murad’s clothes are always trendy with just enough difference to set a person apart in a room full of trendsetters. He has a perfect sense of balance and his collections, every beautiful one, reflect this balance. The Zuhair Murad fall/winter 2017-18 collection is no different, providing a variety of silhouettes and featuring rich colors – pops of marigold and lavender, lots of black and white, shades of teal, and rich blue and green embroidery.
One of the most amazing and really wearable looks in the Zuhair Murad fall 2017 collection was the blue and green floral embellished leather jacket paired with the similarly embroidered skinny black jeans. The jacket was completely magnificent and holds steady as a great option even amongst his other outerwear pieces, tailored jackets and black and white fur coats, a stunning hooded black cape a black lace detailed floor-length coat.
The ensembles were inescapably amazing; every look was full of details to keep the eye interested even in the black on black ensembles. A black skirt trimmed and embellished in leather was beautiful with the velvet lace accented cape. This was another excellent, successful show for Zuhair Murad.

Zuhair Murad drew inspiration from a Japanese pyrotechnics display for his spring 2017 couture collection on January 25. The inspiration showed up very literally in some prints and slightly more subtly in the silhouettes. The firework prints were brilliant explosions of color that were just photos of the pyrotechnics printed on the fabric. The color was saturated and bold, so between the quality and color the pieces kept looking luxurious and expensive.
One dress, a black gown with a high slit showed how striking the print could be. It came across as being novel without being gaudy, which is impressive considering the non-elegant print Murad was working with.
Other couture eveningwear on the Zuhair Murad Couture spring 2017 runway took inspiration from the colors of fireworks, and the entire presentation unfolded like a story. Black and white pieces began the collection, just like the night sky, then red was introduced, followed by fuchsia, pale purple, emerald green, and blue, before ending in a series of white garments complete with a finale bridal gown.
The overall color story shows a slow motion rendition of the colors a firework explodes into when released into a dark night sky, so it’s a stunning visual even without the prints directing you right to the firework theme.
Volume in some silhouettes also helped contribute to the firework theme. Voluminous shoulders were common, especially at the beginning. In fact, the first dress to walk the runway was a semi-sheer mini option with tulle ruffles on the exterior from wrist to wrist.
Fireworks weren’t the only things on Murad’s mind, however. He also cited the TV series “Dynasty” as a source of inspiration for the silhouettes. By looking at all of the extravagant skirts, ruffles, and bow details, the connection is easy to see. The glitz and glamour notable throughout the Zuhair Murad Couture spring/summer 2017 collection could easily fall in either of those categories, so they are sources of inspiration that tie together very easily.
But the point, which brought everything together, was sparkle and glitz. In some garments, glimmer was embedded into the fabrics themselves with shining threads and thin embellishments woven directly into the pieces; others used bolder embellishments or entire garments made of sequined fabric for a less subtle approach; accessories like belts and earrings gave the final doses of sparkle, as did the extravagant tiara, in the case of the luxe bridal gown!
Speaking of the bridal gown, it stayed true to the theme of the line and flowed cohesively with the other silhouettes in the line. The silver detailing worked well as a supplement to the firework theme, but without context you might not even connect the silver pattern to pyrotechnics at all. The model was styled with a glowing pale face, like a regal ice queen, so it’s styled here as a superb winter bridal gown.
A notable red gown had an exceptionally high slit in the front, which added to the drama of the ruffled satin skirt as it swept the floor. Paired with a plunging neckline covered by thin mesh and surrounded by loose sequins, there was a lot of skin showing while also maintaining a demure mood in an intriguing illusion. It’s dresses like this that make it so exciting waiting to see what celebrities will be wearing from the runways to different formal events in the coming months!
The green and blue pieces were just as jaw-dropping, as was any other color presented in the runway lineup. Red might not be the most red carpet-friendly color, so it’s exciting to know that there are so many other dramatic, elegant options in other colors more suited to those types of events.
It’s an interesting thing to note, that all of the designs here were passable back when “Dynasty” took place, in the ‘80s, as well as today, as seen in result events like the inaugural ball, not to mention red carpet appearances. There’s something so timeless about the dresses here, even the more abstract details that are so fitting for awards season.

Zuhair Murad’s pre-fall 2017 collection had the expected amount of flair and sparkle in a great new collection that still happened to have plenty of nostalgia. Represented in the collection are the design sparking inspirations of Chinese embroidery and graphics and the out there fashions of the ‘80s.
The use of very ‘80s style tulle, organza, lame and lace embellished with flowers and swirls and beautiful birds with sparkle strategically placed all over, is absolutely beautiful. The marriage of textures and styles was strange, but it works beautifully from top to bottom on every ensemble. Zuhair Murad’s collections always bring the perfect mix of drama and glamour in perfect cuts and silhouettes to flatter the female form.
There is a lot of contrast play involved in the Zuhair Murad pre-fall 2017 collection. The contrast between textures is evident on denim pants with embroidery and beading, multiple layered skirts, accentuating ruffles and intricate cuts. Even the stockings have textures!
A lot of the shoes were black with bright shiny pink, perfectly placed ruffles, and there were also ruffles on other shoes. Overall the collection has a bit of whimsy to it, but equal amounts of edge and class. The sheer panels offer another point for the eye to be drawn to, adding a sultry element without diminishing the level of chicness in the designs and the overall feel that has brought back customers season after season.
Something that is often overlooked is the pants. The Zuhair Murad pre-fall 2017 collection has pink tuxedo pants with black tuxedo stripes, well fit tailored black pencil pants and wide legged, high waisted pink pants that stand out beautifully.
The difference in Zuhair Murad collections and others is the amount of detail and contrast that never overpowers the final intention to provide beautiful clothes that look incredible on his clients. The tailoring looks excellent from every angle, adding a touch of volume in the shoulders and skirts. The movement and volume built into the ensembles is in more than just the skirts of some looks. Several of the tops and the shoes are embellished with floating layers and ruffles.
The transition between looks is cohesive and the color scheme – black and pink – is amazing and intriguing. Though no one could ever accuse Zuhair Murad of designing with a palette lacking in color, with this type of dual color set he really made an impressive collection that was built on a base of pink, black, textures and shapes.
The sparkle was as beautifully placed as it has been in each of Zuhair Murad’s collections. Everything was wonderfully cut. It is for all of these reasons that Zuhair Murad has a strong and committed following that grows each season.

Filled with dreamlike princess gowns, the newest Zuhair Murad fall 2017 bridal collection is one of Murad’s most elaborate lineups, with cascades of gemstones and crystals enhancing each one of the silhouettes.
To capture his Zuhair Murad fall 2017 bridal collection in its entirety, the fashion designer asked Leticia Guedes to model the lineup’s lookbook, which got captured by Canadian-Lebanese photographer Rabee Younes. Zuhair Murad often enlists Younes as his lookbooks’ photographer, and just by looking at this specific bridal lookbook, it is not that hard to understand why.
Both Guedes and Younes worked together to perfectly recreate the Zuhair Murad fall 2017 bridal collection’s theme, which was the idea of finding simplicity “despite the intricacy of the work”.
Although almost all of the proposals feature exquisitely beaded fabrics, rich floral embroideries and oversized ruffles aplenty, each of the staples couldn’t be described as too extravagant or flamboyant, as Murad’s simplicity lies within the figures, regardless of the adornments used.
Packed with an incredible amount of sheer fabrics and appliqués, the Zuhair Murad fall 2017 bridal collection’s references are, in fact, both close to the boho-chic style, as well as to the classic “Hollywood diva” one, with glamorous mermaid figures alternating the fairytale-like flared ones. It is thus easily possible to find both traditional classics and more risqué wedding dresses in the lineup, as Zuhair Murad played with plunging V-necklines that show a lot of skin, as well as with pieces that definitely cover up more.
The overall style is, however, incredibly dramatic, with structured ruffles and sculpted bodices that inevitably make everything extremely close to haute couture.
Overskirts, sparkling capes, free-flowing trains and high-neck collars got filtered through Murad’s artisanal lens, which always manages to combine effortlessly chic figures (such as mermaid silhouettes) with more contemporary patterns (like sleek fabrics).
Compared to the previous Zuhair Murad spring 2017 bridal collection, which was equally beyond gorgeous as well, this fall 2017 lineup is more textured, heavier in styles as well as designs, although this one does not compromise the timeless aesthetics of the proposals, or their dreamlike allures.
As for the best part of the Zuhair Murad bridal fall 2017 collection, the convertible gowns surely are the best option for all those brides who could not wait to take off their voluminous layers and find themselves wearing something lighter, which would make it much easier to dance the night away!
