In most cases, ladies are the ones who get the most of the attention on the red carpet. That’s understandable because ladies have more room to experiment with their outfits. After seeing all those outstanding gowns we tend to forget about the tuxedos. So, to stand out as a man on the red carpet is not an easy task. This year’s Met Gala theme was all about the avant-garde which made the task even harder. So, how can you wear a tuxedo and still look avant-garde? Well, here are the people who showed us how:
1. Rami Malek

Malek’s all-red Dior Homme suit was a fashion moment to remember. All the guys who are less than 6ft could learn a valuable lesson from Malek. His suit was perfectly tailored and the fit made Malek look taller than he is. Additionally, his shoes were on the edgier side and matched this year’s theme.
2. Wiz Khalifa

Wiz Khalifa smoked a blunt on the red carpet and we are still talking about his outfit. Nobody could steal the show from the black slacks paired with a white shirt, vest and a blazer. His white boots were not an expected choice but sure helped him secure his place among the best-dressed men at the Met Gala. His outfit is a creation of Thom Browne.
3. Hasan Minhaj

Hasan didn’t take any risks but made a strong statement. Once again he proved that the classic black tuxedo with a white smoking shirt is a perfect choice for any red carpet event. Every inch of his Turnbull Asser shawl collar suit fitted him to perfection.
4. The Weekend

The Starboy decided on a settled simple outfit. Everything about his classic tuxedo was on point.
5. Trevor Noah

Trevor decided on an Ermenegildo Zegna made-to-measure suit. This is another great example how a suit should look and fit.
6. Eddie Redmayne

The Oscar winner showed up in a Prada custom tailored blue tuxedo. Eddie paired the double breasted, peak lapel tuxedo with a white smoking shirt and he secured his place among the best-dressed men at the Met Gala 2017.
7. A$AP Rocky

The 28 years old rapper and producer seemed to have a lot of fun at the Met Gala 2017. He apparently grabbed Kendall Jenner’s butt. On the top of that, he was considered among the best-dressed men. His entire outfit was from Raf Simon’s first collection for Calvin Klein.
8. Migos

Migos is the first rap group ever who was honored to perform at the Met Gala. They debuted in all-black classic Versace tuxedos but also brought some of their swag with the designer shades and with the massive pieces of jewelry. I have to admit I have never expected that those chains would look so good on a tuxedo.
9. Aziz Ansari

The classic double breasted tuxedo by Ermenegildo Zegna Couture was the right choice for Aziz Ansari.
10. Joe Jonas
Joe is another star who reached for H&M for his red carpet look. Surprisingly, H&M got the chance to design the outfits for few other celebrities. Joe’s burgundy/black custom tailored suit paired with a black shirt and a black bow tie was a winning combination.
11. Francesco Carrozzini

Anna Wintour’s son-in-law to be Francesco literally shined on the red carpet in his blue double-breasted suit with black shawl collar. He is the son of the former Vogue Italia editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani. No wonder why he is among the best-dressed men on this year’s Met Gala.
12. Pharrell Williams

I would say that Pharrell was the one who risked the most. He showed up dressed casually in jeans, shirt, and a biker jacket and immediately got an approval from the fashion police. Wonder why? Pharrell did a good job adapting to this year’s avant-garde theme and wore Comme des Garcons from head to toes.
13. Future

The rapper was wearing a custom-made H&M suit. The suit was made from sustainable materials of organic silk and Tencel. Future is simply not a person who would show up in a classic tuxedo, so H&M’s team created an eye-catchy outfit by embroidering a black skull on the back of his tailcoat and added a red Swarovski crystal heart.
14. Riz Ahmed

Riz Ahmed once again proved that you can never go wrong with an all-black suit that is custom tailored to perfection.
15. Tom Brady

Tom Brady supported his better half Giselle in a gray matching suit and black trousers. He paired his Tom Ford suit with a white smoking shirt and a black bow tie.
This year’s Met Gala was everything but mainstream. I am not sure if the theme inspired the attendees to behave and dress unconventionally, but we all have to admit there were some jaw-dropping and inspiring moments.
1. Jaden Smith Carried his Dreadlock As An Accessory on the Red Carpet

Jaden is well-known for his experiments with clothes and accessories. His all-black Louis Vuitton outfit at the Met Gala 2017 probably seemed too settled for him, but he decided to accessorize it with his own dreadlocks. Jaden cut off his dreadlocks recently, but it seems that he is still not ready to live without them.
2. Kim Kardashian Passed on The Drama at This Year’s Met Gala

For someone who built a career wearing the latest fashion and dictating trends, it was so unexpected to see her show up in a simple white gown. Not only did her outfit not match this year’s theme, but this simple Vivienne Westwood dress is not comparable to anything that Kim has worn in the past. At previous Met Galas, and other glamorous events, Kim always reached for extravagant gowns with a lot of details. Anyway, I have to say that the off shoulder dress looked amazing on Kim and Mario Dedivanovic once again did an outstanding job with Kim’s makeup.
3. Nicki Minaj Ruled the Red Carpet in H&M

The queen of hip-hop surprisingly didn’t reach for any high-end designers for this year’s Met Gala. Her personal stylist Maher Jridi worked together with the H&M team and created this custom-made outfit that everybody is talking about. The outfit features a satin kimono top and black vinyl rose details. Additionally, the obi belt that features the face of Rei Kawakubo, this year’s honored designer made this outfit unlike anything else we saw on the red carpet.
4. Wiz Khalifa Smoked It on The Red Carpet

Photo Rob Latour/REX/Shutterstock
Jaden Smith wasn’t the only one with an unusual red carpet accessory. While other celebrities were striking poses, Wiz Khalifa took a blunt out of his pocket and started smoking it right there in front of all the cameras. We all know that Wiz is a free spirit, but nobody expected this at the most classy event of the year.
5. P Diddy Lounged on the Red Carpet
P Diddy took a break from the photographers while his wife Cassie was still preoccupied posing for the cameras. He wrote on Twitter: ‘I was getting tired so I laid down on the stairs!!! #METGALA’
Probably every man has felt the same as P Diddy did. As ladies, we like to take our time, whether it is shopping or posing until we get the perfect shot! So, I guess his reaction shouldn’t be so “unexpected”.
6. Two Celebrities Wore La Perla Haute Couture Dresses

The lingerie brand La Perla apparently designs gowns now too. After all that we saw on the red carpet, lingerie-like gowns probably are not the weirdest thing. Kendall Jenner wore a barely-there asymmetrical gown with a deep cut in the back, showing off her La Perla Thong.

Mary J. Blige showed up in La Perla’s newest innovation, a latex lace gown. The sheer black gown with a high split that showed off her legs was completed with black platform heels and some jewelry.
This year’s Met Gala theme Comme des Garcons in honor of the fashion designer Rei Kawakubo was all about avant-garde. There were some celebrities who decided not to go with the theme but the majority wore conceptual, unusual gowns in the spirit of the theme. Take a look at the outfits that stole the show at the Met Gala 2017.
1. Rihanna
The goddess of Met Gala outfits once again justified her place among the best dressed. In the spirit of the theme Rihanna wore a voluminous, colorful creation from Comme Des Garcons Fall 2016 Collection.

The Victoria’s Secret Angel had to arrive at the Met Gala in a party bus because her dress was made of a heavy silk fabric that could easily wrinkle. The train was so long that three people had to assist her on her way to the Met Gala. The custom dress by Ralph Lauren featured asymmetric cuts. Lilly paired the dress with Balenciaga thigh-high pink boots and a custom made pink veil made by her hairstylist Bryce Scarlett.
