Summer is on it’s way out soon and fall is going to start making an appearance. How do you balance the lingering heat with fall style? Simple, just stay neutral. Neutral colors such as beige, nude, taupe, camel, and even gold, are colors that just about anyone can wear and also appropriate for just about any season, but especially the fall months. I wore this linen-blend two piece set with taupe stripes while roaming around the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica Recently. Having lunch, coffee, shopping, and it got so many compliments. I paired it with my new Chloe bag that I had been eyeing for some time, and some super comfy platform heels. I have actually never worn this color much in the past, but during my hunt for more pieces, I found some cool ones that you can shop as well to keep your summer to fall style transition seamless.
Planning a last minute tropical getaway before summer’s end? Not sure what to pack? Allow me to help. I am planning an end of summer trip to Mexico, and naturally I am planning out my wardrobe for the trip, starting with my resort wear. So, I figure why not make a few wardrobe recommendations for you also. A coverup, caftan, or sarong just does not cut it when hanging around luxe resort towns. You’re going to want something with a bit more “snazz” for the oceanside dinners at sunset, and post dinner margaritas and dancing. Straw hats have made quite the appearance this summer, and are a must for any tropical environment. Why not protect your skin while looking stylish? Pair that up with the equally popular polka dot or floral print wrap or sarong style skirt, and statement blouse- preferably off the shoulder, and you are ready to enjoy the vacation perks of the resort life!
Pretty and romantic looks are in. Light and flowy fabrics, feminine ruffles, floral embroidery and prints are more popular now than ever. I feel as if a lot of the styles I am seeing are reminiscent of the Gunne Sax day’s back in the 70’s. The pieces were something like a combination of a boho prairie girl. They key is to add some modern touches to the outfit to make it a bit more modern and stylish while keeping the vintage vibe. In my look I paired this airy cotton jumpsuit from Free People that has that boho prairie girl vibe and combined it with an oversized hat by Nick Fouquet, a metal handbag by From St. Xavier, and since I really wanted to add a Gypsy touch to this I went heavy on the jewelry, mixing some newer pieces like the bangles and earrings with some of my favorite vintage pieces like the rings and the one large bangle. Having pieces that are airy like this jumpsuit for the summertime heat is so important. Cotton’s and chiffons allow you to feel cooler while looking great. I am such a sucker for lamé. I have sound myself spending hours at a time on Etsy browsing through page after page of vintage pieces to find the perfect ones. Some of the best pieces are vintage, and if you’re in luck, they are still in good shape. Luckily, it has been a more popular sight in the modern fashion world and Missoni has put out some pretty lust-worthy pieces. I took my selected Missoni knit lamé skirt and went the 70’s route (duh), pairing it with a metallic, dramatic, bell sleeved bodysuit, metallic fuchsia boots, and some oversized round sunnies. You can create this look for yourself with the same pieces, and of course some variations. Shop below!
Sometimes you just feel spunky, and you need to dress the part. These are always fun days for me, because dressing from another era seems to always lift my mood. If my outfit is bland then my attitude is bland. If my outfit is exciting, then my mood is lighter and happier. This original JC Penny’s jumpsuit in wearing was scored at A Current Affair, which is the holy mecca of vintage fashion that happens all over the U.S. I saw this piece and fell in love, but was afraid it was not going to fit. Luckily, it fit perfectly! Below I have sourced out 8 amazing vintage jumpsuits for you to choose from including some rocking boots to boot *insert chuckle*.
With all the fun things that summer brings, who has time to think about what to wear or how to wear it? On my busier days I depend on the effortless 2 piece outfits. I can grab one, throw it on, and not have to put any thought into how to pair it. Bonus is, most of them are also pretty comfy. Below are some of my favorites that you can utilize for a multitude of occasions .

If you follow street style at all, then the kimono and jeans look is no stranger to your eyes. Two very versatile things paired together make for a fun outfit. I got on a kimono kick last year and may have purchased a few too many since, but they are so beautiful and all so different, it’s hard to say no. I score my pieces at vintage stores, vintage clothing conventions, and flea markets, but Etsy has the mother load. You can spend days looking through kimonos that range in all sizes, years, and prices ($45-$3,000+) to be exact. I wear mine mostly with jeans, but they are great over a slip dress, or of course asa house robe. Below you can shop a few of my favorite kimono/jean combos and also these fun 50’s metal weave basket handbags.
This combo screams spring with it’s bold floral patterns and light colored jeans.

Nail maintenance can be such pain. It’s one of those little things, that makes such a difference in our appearance, but also far too time consuming for those of us with a hectic schedule. Here are a few tips for keeping your nails pretty, but also healthy. Click to shop the products and make sure you have them with you when you go for your next mani/pedi. Remember, it’s wise to always take your own polishes with you to the nail salon to prevent spread of germs and potential nail fungus.
Conditioning The Nails Like our bodies, and hair, our nails need conditioner also. Especially with all of the damage we deal them with acetone, and for some of us gels, and acrylics. If you are planning on putting a fresh coat of paint for the next day, don’t wait until just before to remove the old polish. A good habit I have gotten into when I plan to change my polish is the night before I remove the old, wash, and then rub a bit of olive oil on my nails and leave it on overnight. This is super hydrating for your nails, and is a great remedy for brittle and peeling nails. After doing this just twice I noticed that my polish lasted longer due to less peeling.
Treatment A lot of you probably use a base coat before your color, and salons always do. Why not use a base coat that has a strengthening treatment in it? This miracle treatment from Sally Hansen is guaranteed to give you 50% stronger nails in just 3 days. It infuses your nails with proteins and fills in cracks to stop peeling. I have been using it for a couple of months now and my nail health has significantly improved.

Polish There are endless polish options out there, and I am sure we all have a collection of it. I recently discovered a new holy grail though. Essie’s treat, love, and color nail polish may replace every polish that I own. It also strengthens your nails with collagen and camellia extract. I was surprised at how long it lasted, and it really did make a difference in the appearance of my natural nails. There are 26 colors to choose from, but my favorite may be this “Sheers to you” color. It’s that perfect & natural looking sheer pink tint that you have spent your life looking for.

Top It Off No-one has time to watch paint dry. No-one. Nor do we have the time or patience to re-paint the nails that we messed up due to our failed attempt of waiting of them to dry. Seche Vite is to the rescue. Top off your polish with this quick dry top coat and you are literally cutting your drying time into a fraction of what it would be otherwise
