Dolce & Gabbana hosted a weekend of extravaganza for their Spring 2018 Alta Moda Fashion Show that took place at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center in NYC. The event turned into a three-day high fashion affair. For their Alta Moda shows, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana usually chose classic Italian destinations. The most recent couture shows took place in Milan, Sicily, and Naples. However, for Spring 2018, the Italian duo landed on US soil to present their opulent Alta Moda offerings.
The event consisted of a few different presentations. On Friday, Dolce & Gabbana presented the Alta Gioielleria high jewelry line. Next, on Saturday the men’s couture Alta Sartoria show at the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center followed up. Lastly, the most anticipated show happened on Sunday where the women’s collection was presented at The Metropolitan Opera House.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana invited the most impressive model cast to present the lavish pieces. First of all, the Italian duo made a strong statement that couture fashion knows no age, size or religion. The 69-years-old Canadian model Maye Musk looked absolutely stunning in Dolce & Gabbana couture. Naomi Campbell stole the attention in a maximalist corset gown with a graphic voluminous skirt. Ashley Graham amazed in a romantic floral gown paired with exotic headpiece. Other supermodels who walked the runway included Joan Smalls, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio, the hijab-wearing model Halima Aden, Taylor Hill, Karlie Kloss and more.

The entire collection was as lavish as it could get. The Italian duo is well-known for their “more is more” philosophy. From florals, sequins, graphics, and stripes to intricate silhouettes, and massive headpieces, the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2018 collection was a feast for the eyes. In fact, the graphics were a romantic ode to the city that never sleeps, New York.
“We love everything about the city, the food, the people you meet on the streets, the skyscrapers, the restaurants, the subway, the nightlife, the lights that never go out. I could go on forever,” Gabbana told Vogue
Almost every piece was topped with frills, ruffles, fringe, and crystals. As always, Domenico and Stefano paid attention to the tiniest details in the making of the couture lineup.

Couture fashion obsessives from all over the world came to New York City to attend the Dolce & Gabbana three-day couture extravaganza. Among the A-list show-goers were Catherine Zeta-Jones and her lookalike daughter Carys Douglas, Diane Kruger, Dakota Fanning, and Jamie Foxx. On the top of that, the designers invited their most loyal clientele that included guests from Russia, China, the Middle East, and the UK.
Dolce & Gabbana took over the most famous department store in Britain, Harrods. To celebrate the collaboration, the Italian duo launched an exclusive capsule collection. The extravagant “The Sun in a London Night” show was just a part of the many surprises brought by Domenico and Stefano.
Their Harrods takeover was teased recently, but no one expected such a spectacle. The two designers brought all the Italian luxury to London and transformed the store into a fairytale. Everything was breathing and screaming Dolce & Gabbana. The designers presented the capsule in the middle of the food department of Harrods. Domenico and Stefano invited their millennial influencers and royal British family members. For this fashion show, the duo gathered around 100 young trendsetters that styled their looks. Among the familiar faces were Pixie Lott, Amber Le Bon, Lottie Moss, Lady Amelia Spencer, Sascha Bailey, Lady Tatiana Mountbatten, Lady Kitty Spencer and more.
“When you enjoy it, it’s easy. We are so lucky because it’s not work to us. It’s a pleasure. I never liked a short show. If I invite you for dinner or lunch, I’m not going to just make you an appetizer. I love millennials. People talk about them like they’re the worst generation. No! This generation represents a new time. It’s not like, ‘Oh, we discovered millennials’. You need to talk to these people and understand them, and why they’re changing the world. They’re honest.”- Dolce said.
Dolce and Gabbana took over every single corner of the store. The amount they spent is still not revealed, but the speculations are that it cost them around £7 million. Harrods and the luxury Italian house worked for over a year on putting this project together. The collaboration will last until December 28.
The all-Italian takeover included a day full of activities. It all started at the spectacular store entrance that is decorated with a huge Christmas tree, store windows with D&G products, light installations and a brass band brought from Naples. Inside the store, you will find a high-end jewelry pop-up, kids department, womenswear and menswear, kitchen equipment and even Dolce & Gabbana spaghetti.
Stefano and Domenico also released a photographic book that celebrates the new generation. “Dolce & Gabbana Generation Millennials: The New Renaissance” includes pictures of all the millennials who have inspired and collaborated with the Italian duo. It is a dynamic book published by Rizzoli where you will find fun runway photos, shots from events, selfies and more.
The Milan Fashion Week surprised this year. With the celebrity audience that NYFW gets and the fresh design energy that LFW is known for, the MFW has always been kind of in between. But this year Milan took the lead. It was an amazing pure Italian experience at its best. Milan was the epicenter of the fashion happenings this season. The luxury designer house released 4 promotional videos that were shot on the streets of Naples, Italy. Clarke’s video shows the beautiful actress walking and dancing around the authentic alleys of Naples. She perfectly fits in with the surroundings and interacts with the city locals. Emilia gets flowers and enjoys a huge bowl of the signature Italian pasta. The commercial for the women’s fragrance was released with a short explanation of the whole campaign. “The One” Eau de Toilette is a new scent from the brand and it has a soft and sensual smell with top notes made of bergamot, white peach, and Madonna lily.

The short movies were directed by the Italian filmmaker Matteo Garrone. “The One” Eau de Parfum and “The One” for Men will be sold for $67. Clarke and Harington are not together in the same ad, so everyone is excited to see if that will happen soon. Fingers crossed that Dolce & Gabbana will surprise us with more promotional material that features both of them.

Season’s seven final episode was aired just one week ago, and this acting duo is all over social media.
