Christian Siriano shows always raises the bar when it comes to NYFW. The decision to make his brand more diverse and extend his size range brought him many new fans. No wonder why he dressed a total of 17 different women at the 2018 Oscars, which is more than any designer this year. A-list names now flaunt Siriano pieces with pride on and off the red carpet. The Spring 2019 runway show was possibly his most diverse so far. The designer praised Cynthia Nixon through a few casual tees bringing back the political vibes to NYFW. For Siriano, Nixon’s message resonates with his:
The beloved affordable cosmetics brand E.L.F made its debut on the runway at this NYFW, sponsoring Christian Siriano’s Fall 2018 show. It turns out that something more was behind this partnership – an entire collaborative collection that connects high fashion and low prices. Designer Christian Siriano teamed up with E.L.F cosmetics on a 4-piece electric collection. We already got to see these exciting items in action on the show and believe it or not, E.L.F dropped them on their website, so no one has to wait to put their hands on these.
“I’m a huge celebrator of color. I love the idea of vibrancy. I just had 30 fabrics on the table and I was like, ‘Here’s what I want it to be.’ I was pulling pigments from fabrics, saying, ‘I’d really love the packaging to feel like this floral organza,” the designer told Elle.
The colors in the collection remind of his vibrant spring offerings. The eyeshadows that come in a patterned hot fuchsia packaging include 7 fun colors perfect for spring. If you are a brown-smokey eye type of person, this palette might overwhelm you. But since the ’80s are coming back in 2018, now is the time to experiment with bold colors. The eyeshadow palette includes acid green, Pantone’s color of the year, Ultra Violet, turquoise, deep blue and a few neutrals to highlight the inner corners of your eyes, your brow bone or just flaunt a toned-down day makeup look. The palette costs only $12.
Next, the two lip products include one matte liquid lipstick called Electric Fuchsia and pale pink tinted lip oil called Polished Pink. Thanks to E.LF’s affordable price points, you can get these lippies for $6 each. Lastly, there is a chic patterned metallic pink makeup bag. With a price tag of only $8, you’ll most certainly want to have a matching makeup bag for Christian Siriano’s eyeshadow palette and the lipsticks. In fact, the entire collection will cost you $32, which is far less than a Christian Siriano dress. His designs are indeed beautiful, but just in case your wallet isn’t ready for high-fashion prices, you can score this collection without spending too much.
Christian Siriano has made his eponymous brand a synonym for inclusivity. In the same fashion, Siriano featured plus-size models in the shoot for the makeup collection and E.L.F welcomed the idea with no question. His Fall 2018 show at NYFW was an ode to diversity. The designer had one of the most diverse model casts that included women of all shapes, sizes, races and even celebrities. Together with E.L.F cosmetics, Christian Siriano finally broke into the beauty industry with a fun affordable collection meant for everyone.
Christian Siriano is one of those designers that know how to transform a minimalist design into a red carpet-worthy dress. All of the looks from his Pre-Fall 2018 collection are already in high demand for the upcoming award season. From that fact you can get a general idea of how popular and renowned Christian is among A-listers. There isn’t a single celebrity event without Siriano’s dresses.
This time the designer was inspired by his mom, who gave him photographs of her from back in the day. The pictures date from the 70s, a decade when fashion was in full bloom. You will notice those throw-back vibes in several of the looks. From there, the designer looked into pictures of Mick and Bianca Jagger from the same decade. He got the idea of presenting a Pre-Fall 2018 collection with a glam rock vibe. Several other designers turned to the same concept for their lines. Now we know what to expect for the following season.
Christian paid attention to day wear as well as glamorous, elegant ensembles. A larger part of the collection is made of whimsical designs that deserve a special occasion. All of the dresses are voluminous, with simple cuts, made of gorgeous fabrics. Siriano is one of those designers that know how to make minimalist creations look like million dollars pieces. He constantly proves that it’s not all about extravaganza and opulence.
There is a strong sense of diversity in the collection. Starting from cuts to colors, Christian made sure to include a little bit of everything. The shades range from bright, statement blue ones, to dark black and gray. When it comes to fabrics, you’ll see sequins, stripes, denim and even florals.
The other portion consists of sophisticated looks with a twist of luxury. These are denim and leather ensembles that can be turned into party wear. Both looks involve high-waisted, wide-leg chic pants. The leather pair is matched with a crop top with off-the-shoulder sleeves. While the denim outfit includes a cropped jacket with statement collars and a long belt on the waist.
The pictures from his mother also inspired two capsule collections, one with denim separates the other one with leather garments. Thanks to those 70s-inspired outfits, Siriano debuted his first-ever denim line. In February, the designer will celebrate his 10th anniversary. That is why he wanted to tone down this collection and save the glam for another occasion. His gowns are still gorgeous and mesmerizing, but a bit different than before. This means that we have another spectacular presentation to look forward to.

It’s official: The New York Fashion Week has finally opened up more about beauty at all sizes. The issue of diversity in the fashion industry has been very discussed lately. As a result to that, the SS 2018 NYFW had runway shows that featured models of all sizes, generations, and races. Every year more designers care about the diversity at their shows. During SS 2018 NYFW 9 designers included plus-size models. Total of 208 size-diverse models were a part of the SS 2018 NYFW both on the runway and the presentations. This is a record-breaking number in the history of the NYFW. See the mesmerizing looks that the curvy beauties flaunted on the show in the video below.
Last year only 27 plus-size models made an appearance, so this is a very remarkable result. According to Fall 2017 Runway Diversity Report, 31.5% of the designers included more plus-size models and models of color this year. Among the designers who had plus-size models on their shows is Christian Siriano. The young designer is a huge supporter of the body-positive movement. Christian Siriano invites curvy models to his shows on a regular basis.
Addition Elle is another brand that stood for diversity this year. The brand is known for its size-inclusive collections and collaborations with body positivity advocates such as Ashley Graham and Jordyn Woods. This was Addition Elle’s debut show on the NYFW. The brand had very size-inclusive model cast. Other inclusive brands include Michael Kors, Prabal Gurung, Chromat, Anna Sui, Rebecca Minkoff, and The Blonds.
The body positivity isn’t a trend but an evolution. The SS 2018 NYFW was a step forward toward more inclusive fashion and less body shaming. It’s finally time to spread positivity and break stereotypes.
The accessories from SS 2018 NYFW will help you to make a fashion statement even with the simplest outfit. Forget about minimalism the following spring. Just like the collections, the spring 2018 accessories are show-stopping and powerful. They are designed to send a message and elevate your outfit to the highest level.
Although this NYFW didn’t get political like the one back in Fall 2017, some designers still used their voice to raise awareness. Christian Siriano put his infamous slogan “People are People” on a round shoulder bag and impressed all of the fashion-addicts that showed face at his Spring 2018 show.
The designers created very innovative spring 2018 bags. Bags in different styles and shapes with interesting embellishments were spotted on almost every show during NYFW.
Rihanna mastered the athleisure style with her latest Fenty X Puma collection. The singer presented the ultimate athleisure bags of the season. Vivid colors and sports vibe predominated in her spring 2018 accessories. Some people may frown upon a backpack-looking sports Puma bag and flip flop high heels outfit but since the greatest style icon approves it, we can’t say no to it.
Alexander Wang is here to test your style limits. The new Alexander Wang bag looks like a stack of $100 bills covered in crystals. The $5000 bag might seem like a reasonable investment because you’ll get to keep the stack of money forever.
Earrings had a moment at the SS 2018 NYFW. Almost every designer spiced up the outfits with mesmerizing earrings in different styles and shapes. In spring 2018 earrings will be the go-to accessory piece.
You’ll see a lot more of the tiny sunglasses that were popular in late summer 2017. Small futuristic eyeglasses will be popular in spring 2018 as well. Big statement sunglasses with intricate details are also a huge trend for the upcoming spring.
Feast your eyes on the biggest accessory trends that dominated the runways during SS 2018 NYFW.
Have you ever wondered who the designer of Samira Wiley’s wedding dress was? The OITNB actress wore a Christian Siriano bridal gown earlier this March and, just by looking at the newly released Christian Siriano bridal spring 2018 collection, it is not that hard to understand why she headed to the talented American designer’s showroom. Her choice actually urged the designer to design a similar wedding separate for this latest bridal spring 2018 collection of his, as hordes of fans began asking Christian Siriano to include similar styles in this line-up as well.
Wiley’s bridal dress, which consisted of an utterly elegant off-the-shoulder crop top and a ball skirt, really exuded Siriano’s soigné figures and visionary styles, the leitmotifs of which inevitably were at the core of this latest Christian Siriano spring 2018 bridal collection as well. Siriano himself, during a private walk-through at his showroom, quickly explained the reason behind such a choice, revealing he wanted to focus less on the trends but rather more on “what our customer really wants.”
Often regarded as a contemporary minimalist, Siriano transposed his own concept of a “modern wife”, namely one who wants to have fun always looking flawless, to a dream array of 16 different looks, among which the separates inevitably dominate. Although the collection does include more conventional bridal dresses, the separates are those that embrace the “modern minimalist” concept most, as they make it possible to also change one’s outfit just in time for the wedding party.
“Brides are still coming back to these dresses season after season because they have to be classic, they have to be timeless in their own way,” Siriano continued. “They want to have fun. I’ve noticed they get one night and they want to have costume changes. It’s so interesting the requests we get.”
Overall, Siriano’s bridal spring 2018 collection features four different, yet distinctive leitmotifs, one of which includes one of Christian Siriano’s acclaimed bridal trademarks, the jumpsuit. Here refined with sheer appliqués, Siriano’s bridal jumpsuits give the designer’s visionary creativity a voice for sure, and we now expect always new jumpsuit styles in the years to come.
The other three motifs include Siriano’s all-white array of proposals, which is quite surprising for a designer who loves to break conventionality, a clear passion for the bared shoulders and the sweetheart necklines, and ultra-flared lines on the gowns, which add a delicate sense of romanticism we cannot help but fall in love with every time Christian Siriano delights us with a bridal collection. As seen in the range of jumpsuits, even for the gowns and the separates lace plays a huge role, completing almost each proposal with intricate embroideries that are literally to die for.
With the price tags varying from circa $3,500 to $17,000, we bet this Christian Siriano spring 2018 bridal collection will become one of next year’s biggest bridal fashion successes worldwide.

Christian Siriano has never been afraid to use fashion as a medium through which powerful messages could be spread, and the Christian Siriano fall/winter 2017-18 ready-to-wear collection was no less so. Siriano’s take on the autumnal season injected the New York Fashion Week’s streets with both Siriano’s standard high/low fashions (although here being more predominantly luxurious), and with political motions that won’t go forgotten for sure.
All in all, the Christian Siriano fall 2017 rtw collection was inspired by a trip Christian Siriano recently took to Nevada’s Valley of Fire State Park, which is a majestic park that was named after its red sandstone formations that, when reflecting the sun’s rays, appear to be on fire. Transposed to fashion and filtered through Christian Siriano’s lens, such sandstone formations and dunes were translated to waves made of cloths, sunburnt colors and an overall sense of peace that wafted in the air as soon as the first model made her appearance.
Siriano’s trip to the Fire State Park was a way for him to escape the world and just let himself get overwhelmed with peaceful sensations of serenity, which he wanted us to experience when looking at his latest creations. “The last couple months I needed a break, and driving through the park you feel like you’re in a dream,” Christian Siriano explained to Vogue. “I wanted everyone out there to kind of take 20 minutes to just dream. There is a lot going on in the world, but for a moment you can take yourself out of it.”
Sophisticated and predominantly filled with evening proposals, although some separates make it possible to mix-and-match and play with different styles, Christian Siriano’s visions on the fall/winter season is an extra-sensory one, with everything from the sequined embellishments to the soft velvet fabrics transforming day-to-day figures to fashions from a parallel world. Although being closer to the most iconic Seventies-inspired silhouettes in styles and lines, the proposals could be regarded as neither too vintage, nor too modern, as Siriano indeed managed to freeze his creativity in time giving us a one-of-a-lifetime experience.
While the evening dresses were mostly pompous, with either ultra-flared lines taking our breath away, or sinuous long dresses stealing the spotlight with their fluid lines, the separates focused on oversized detailing and dramatic prints, which transformed plain items such as pencil skirts and trousers, suits jackets and blouses with strategic cut-outs into something we yet had to experience and see.
Siriano’s color palette of choice was particularly interesting too, as it featured both soigné burgundies and copperish browns, and fancy combinations such as pink and red, which are already one of the most featured color mixes of 2017.
Then, after leaving us with Zen vibes that could help anyone become estranged from the chaos of the world for at least 10 minutes, he concluded his fall/winter 2017-18 collection with a signature Siriano fashion statement, namely a play black t-shirt with a powerful “people are people” print emblazoned on the front.

Whenever it comes to combining art with fashion, one can always count on Christian Siriano. Fashion designer Siriano just reinforced this statement with his latest pre-fall 2017 collection, the motifs of which takes us to Poland, drawn by the creative hands of artist Renata Brzozowska.
In the creative process of designing his Christian Siriano pre-fall 2017 collection, Siriano surrounded himself with pictures of Brzozowska’s paintings, Victorian portraitures and even illustrations of birds, the patterns and inspirations of which are clearly visible throughout the line-up’s pieces.
From contemporary artist Renata Brzozowska, Siriano managed to capture the painter’s dynamicity and elegance, combined together in most of her paintings, including portraits of ethereally dynamic ballerinas. From the Victorian age, Siriano captured unapologetically dramatic and theatric aesthetics that, as he often manages to do, got skillfully translated to their more contemporary counterparts.
Illustrations of birds are easily to be found in the lookbook’s background and on the staples as well, the patterns of which got either printed on the fabrics, or abstractly transposed in the form of tulle frills and “winged shoulders”.
Thanks to his romantic appeal for the Victorian age, Siriano managed to reinvent structured shoulders and butterfly sleeves into something more dynamic, if not fairytale-like, which is just perfect for both those who love to make a statement through fashion, or just prefer to cover themselves more without giving up on style.
For these reasons, instead of solely focusing on a Victorian age-approved dark-toned palette, for his Christian Siriano pre-fall 2017 collection, the designer served us an abounding number of delicate and jocose pastel hues, such as light blue and pink, which definitely light up most of the garments’ imposing and heavy figures.
Siriano’s lineup is, in fact, an intersectional, conscious kind of pre-fall collection, which was created keeping in mind its internationally different target audience. “We have a lot of customers that want to be covered but still want to look cool and interesting,” declared Siriano in his showroom.
Aside from the beautifully constructed staples, such as the dramatic mermaid dresses, the asymmetrical necklines, the roomy sleeves and the jaw-dropping pleated skirts, what amazes most is Siriano’s capability of treating each one of his customers to something that is highly versatile, covetable and 100% respectful of one’s culture, which is no small feat indeed. Instead of creating two separate lines, he proved fashion can definitely unite different worlds together under one single roof.

Christian Siriano has had great success dressing big name celebrities, especially recently with names like Michelle Obama and Leslie Jones under his belt, and he certainly showed his growth as a designer during his New York Fashion Week show. For the Christian Siriano spring/summer 2017 he showed an impressive understanding of how to pair patterns and showed a much more refined sense of when to use bright colors than in some of his past season showings.
But what else was impressive was his lineup of models that walked the runway, and the silhouettes that were amplified due to that. Siriano truly made a bold move this season, as he did something not many designers of his prestige will do for a fashion week; he also created fabulous looks for plus size models.
This decision was less surprising for this designer based on his recent clientele, but it made no less of an impact when it first hit the runway. Many of the plus size looks that walked were greeted by a grand round of applause.
Best known by his clients for his unique designs for special occasions, Siriano opted to show off that side of himself, while also pausing in some points for some great daywear pieces that were beautifully wearable – all of the pieces, however, carried that fabulous elegance that the designer himself always tends to walk with.
There were several pieces that will undoubtedly be walking the red carpet sometime soon, but we’ll have to wait and see who gets dibs, especially with his extensive client base, a few of which made prominent appearances by taking seats in the front row. Ashley Graham, Christina Hendricks, Coco Rocha, Kelly Osbourne with her now-iconic dog Polly, and Pamela Anderson were just some Siriano lovers in the crowd for the show.
But it looks as though Alexander may be one of the most adamant celebs in the race to secure her favorite event looks from the designer, noting some of his best traits. “[Siriano] is one of my favorites; he just seems to make the best clothes for every shape of woman out there,” she said. “You can move in [his clothing], you can feel sexy in it – it’s not constructing, it’s flattering. There’s something for everyone. Not everything is a size zero with him, and I appreciate that.”
But for those not looking for a new red carpet gown in vibrant colors, there were pieces like a beautiful jacket-dress in the line’s recurring stripe, and easy flowing garments that would look beautiful just strolling down the street. They all acted as great sister pieces to the event-wear which featured larger-than-life ruffles, and a great deal of drama that the designer has been known for ever since his fashion debut in the fourth season of Project Runway.
The only place he lost us was with his layering; placing bra-shaped pieces over already beautiful garments worked in a couple of places maybe, but the whole line would have been more easygoing had they been mixed altogether. The decision was a risk, however, and we have to give merit to that decision if nothing else.
Overall, though, the showing was very beautiful from Siriano this season, and we love seeing his initiative with sending clothes for women of multiple sizes down the runway. It’s always great seeing bright, young designers taking efforts to move the fashion industry forward and pushing the boundaries set for it!
