Tory Burch Fall/Winter 2015-2016 Collection – New York Fashion Week
The Tory-Burch fall/winter 2015-2016 collection brought interesting cultural juxtaposition to New York Fashion Week, unveiling an array of boho-chic clothing pieces that were blending typical Marrakech motifs with Chelsea vibes. Drenched in a romantic fall-ready color palette and busy prints, the pieces showcased radiated a big dose of femininity and effortless chic, being perfect alternatives for day-to-day casual looks. Moreover, there are some striking evening attire options for the glam nights out, as well as classy designs you can add to your office wardrobes. In all the cases, the skillful clothing combinations and the pretty mishmashes of bold prints and colors translated into eye-pleasing looks every modern fashioniser would love to acquire right away.
Rich tapestry is the focal point of the entire Tory-Burch fall/winter 2015-2016 collection, which comes combined with studs, sequins and tassels to embody the colorful Marrakech culture. In terms of colors, the collection can be divided into two parts, the first of which is blending gray, black and cream tones with lots of blues, while marsala wine red is the protagonist of the rest of the pieces, looking especially spectacular in combination with navy blues or creams. There are just two or three ensembles coming in a monochrome style, of which especially lovely is the cream knitted dress worn with a pair of burgundy leather boots, a tiny printed scarf and a Seventies style bag. Generally, ‘70s references appear quite frequently throughout the line coming in the from of chic tailored pants that are teamed with a flowing white blouse and a printed long vest, or suede used for a navy blue straight dress worn over a lightweight shirt in the same shade.
A touch of subtle sexuality has been added to certain looks through the use of high side slits. The sequined below-the-knee skirt with a high slit adopts a laidback casual style when being combined with a modest suede top that provides enough coverage to make that single slit the center of the attention. Then it’s all the mix of fabrics and textures that makes the entire collection so contrasting and chic. We see delicate chiffon worn with knitwear for added warmth, or suede flawlessly combined with knitwear.
It’s not just the backdrop reminding of an old Marrakech rug, but certain dresses, skirts and even pants come embellished with iconic tapestry in rich shades of red and brown. However, when it comes to eveningwear the ground-skimming flowing dresses stand out with their monochrome looks, instead utilizing metallic coin details as perfect finishing touches.
For added exoticism the looks come accessorized with big metallic necklaces, while the leather heeled boots and the oversized bags inject a touch of modernity to the outfits. And since the clothing pieces are bold enough to become the focus of attention, beauty is kept relatively relaxed and natural with the hair left loose in natural waves and the face kept nude. It’s a diverse and rich collection presentation, which has lots of style lessons to teach fashion and beauty wise.
