Topshop Unique Spring/Summer 2015 Collection – London Fashion Week
Fresh, youthful and extremely wearable is the brand-new Topshop Unique spring/summer 2015 collection, which has just been proudly presented at London Fashion Week spring 2015. All the unique features and style ideology that define this rapidly growing British brand, which always takes the British youth culture as its focus, can be found in this collection. Emma Farrow and Kate Phelan have found their inspiration in the “faded glamour of the British seaside” for their spring collection, which definitely is glamorous and retro with big proportions of comfiness and functionality. It’s a line dedicated to “great summer clothes and beautiful dresses – it’s about living for the weekend,” as Emma noted before the show. Well, it definitely is lightweight ideal for summer, and casual chic perfect to make not only your weekends memorable and cool, but also all the remaining days in a week.
From the very beginning of the Topshop Unique spring/summer 2015 collection show (it was Cara Delevingne, who proudly opened the show) one could feel the beautiful color romance between red and blue, white, black and burgundy. The sporty motif wrapped up the first looks demonstrated, which still managed to look utterly girly and cute. In the beginning, we saw a cute color-blocked sporty top worn over a simple white mini dress with a ruffled hemline, a color-blocked sweatshirt matched with a red pleated chiffon mini skirt, another sporty sweatshirt worn with a white mini skirt, a simple color-blocked mini dress and gorgeous high-waisted skinnies worn with a striped and color-blocked top. All these looks were complemented with strappy heeled sandals, and some features curious sporty bags.
Continuing in the same spirit, yet playing with slightly different color shades, the Topshop Unique spring/summer 2015 collection show then demonstrated uber-short and sweet shorts with ruffled hems, printed mini skirts, stylish outerwear options, and lots of off-the-shoulder tops and dresses, talking about the big popularity of such designs this spring. There you could also see the metallic silver shades, the lovely pleats used for a number of mini skirts, the big abundance of stripes and ruffles, adorning various garment options.
Among other hot spring 2015 trends that we could see in this collection, we should speak about the transparent fabric choices, which came either combined with other fabrics creating a peek-a-boo effect or in solo used for a number of gorgeous cocktail dresses that closed the show. The versatile color palette chosen, the flirty shapes and cuts, and the small details that added so much attitude to the garments all secured the complete success of the Topshop Unique spring 2015 rtw collection!
The makeup and hair of the models were adjusted according to the theme of the collection. This way, the models wore slightly bold makeup accents put on the lips mainly, while the hair was kept effortless and textured. “It’s about having attitude and not being too polished. As soon as I saw the designs I imagined a strong lip!” said Hannah, the makeup artist for the show.
As for the accessorizing options, if the models didn’t wear strappy heels, they opted for comfy wedge sandals, while the bags were in the same roomy and functional style. The entire Topshop Unique spring 2015 rtw show was about British seaside glamour, and every detail used embraced this attitude to the full!
