Fashion Bloggers Walked for Rebecca Minkoff’s Fall 2016 See-Now-Buy-Now Show
One of the best new features of the new fashion week shows is the new “see-now-wear-now” format that has received wide audience acclaim. While spring collections are still offered during the fashion weeks in New York, Paris, London and Milan for the next month, it is nice to also have collections appear that we can get excited about and purchase now, wearing them out to show off exactly how fashion savvy we really are.
Rebecca Minkoff has been among the top designers to offer both types of collections, having released their spring/summer 2017 looks a few days back and now adding to the gorgeous hype with an intriguing catwalk that literally took to the streets, joining in the ranks of Tommy Hilfiger, Thakoon and Yeezy. This tactic has yielded a near 200% increase in sales, which is exactly what all designers desire these days.
The presentation of the Rebecca Minkoff fall 2016 see-now-buy-now collection during the New York Fashion Week shut down Greene Street in SoHo on Saturday morning, not an easy feat, considering how busy the place gets. It was an interesting business move but we believe it might have paid off well.
The collection itself featured 27 lovely fall looks, inspired by travel as a luxury event, something that has been a theme for the past few months already. It was all quite consumer-friendly and the best part is that what was seen on the outdoor runway will be delivered to customers during the months of September and October, something that is quite new to the world of fashion.
It is, however, definitely something that we were waiting for and makes a whole lot more sense for most of the population that requires quick answers and loves to shop on-the-go. While not all 27 are available for purchase at RebeccaMinkoff.com this time around, it is certainly heartening to know that 20 will be available at once.
As for the collection itself, there is a certain vagabond spirit to the boho-chic of it all, with mixed prints and chiffon dresses, hemlines that are asymmetric and skirts that are tiered. Here was even a gorgeous velvet slip dress in burgundy and black that we certainly want to see on the streets this fall.
The collection was co-led by beauty blogger Amanda Steele and utilized technology to make the street-perfect fashion available to all, using 360 virtual technology as well as wearables that look like pieces of jewelry and look beautiful.
Some of the top fashion bloggers of the moment also walked the runway from Gala Gonzalez of Amlul to Arielle Charnas of Something Navy to besties Shea Marie and Caroline Vreeland. The Zeekit app was used as well to allow people to take pictures of themselves and upload them to show off how the clothing on the runway will look on them personally.
Partnered with Maybelline New York, two new makeup collections were also revealed on the runway, available for sale following the show. It was, without a doubt, one of the most intriguing collections on the NYFW and its gypset inspiration of the millennial woman who enjoys travelling the world certainly appeals to all of us in our 20s and 30s.
