Prada’s Fall 2016 Fashion Campaign Features 27 Models
Surrealism, quirky collage techniques and photographer Steven Meisel’s impressive artistic skills got all blended to create the impressive Prada fall 2016 fashion campaign, which features a grand total of 27 supermodels!
Prada’s creative director Miuccia Prada, who has never failed to treat us to visionary fashion campaigns that are a pure pleasure to watch, decided to change at least the way she deals with numbers this time, translating her Prada fall/winter 2016-17 collection to a multitude of visual styles channeled by different brand ambassadors that managed to perfectly embody the collection’s eclectic spirit.
Besides featuring so many famous and rising models, this Prada fall 2016 ad campaign focuses on an inspiring and well-variegated array of must-haves, spotted at the brand’s fall runway show, from statement accessories to clothing pieces.
To enhance the line-up’s eclectic, yet quite minimalistic style (Miuccia indeed outdid herself with this latest collection of hers), Meisel showed off his terrific skills working with dramatic collages that directly catapulted the models to a fictional space, with starry nights and dusk scenarios dominating the backgrounds. Given that the collection was inspired by travel, the campaign just took this metaphor to its extreme, literally depicting the 27 models as cosmopolitan fashion cosmonauts.
To further accentuate the sci-fi/Mad Max vibes, Miuccia Prada opted to wrap up the models in either fitted safari coats or futuristic bomber jackets paired with curve-hugging corsets, the reflecting lights of which radiate appealing 3D optical effects.
The collection’s trompe l’oeil patters instantly pop up on the collage’s striking backgrounds too, enhancing the very few solid-colored accessories, such as cozy gloves and mini handbags. To better recall the sci-fi mood, she concentrated on sleek hairstyles and au naturel makeup looks.
What’s more interesting, however, is what the collage figuratively stands for. Besides recalling the collection’s travel theme, it has a deeper, more poetic meaning Miuccia Prada recently explained in a press release. “In dressing each morning, a woman recomposes her unique collage of a life. Therein lies her strength,” she declared.
As for the 27 models, if you have not recognized all their faces or find it hard to tell them apart, here’s the complete list: Raquel Zimmermann, Angelica Erthal, Roos Abels, Milla Jovovich, Noemie Abigail, Vanessa Axente, Freja Beha Erichsen, Lexi Boling, Vittoria Ceretti, Yoon Young Bae, Sara Dijkink, Danielle Ellsworth, Paulina Frankowska, Amanda Googe, Caitie Greene, Ondria Hardin, Lorena Maraschi, Amanda Murphy, Londone Myers, Julia Nobis, Marina Perez, Sasha Pivovarova, Fei Fei Sun, Stella Tennant, Rianne Van Rompaey, Natalie Westling and Kiki Willems.
