Opening Ceremony Spring/Summer 2015 Collection – New York Fashion Week
Don’t you just love when fashion shows turn into spectacles? How about when they become real theatrical performances with actors and all? Because that is what the Opening Ceremony spring/summer 2015 collection turned into. So how did that happen? Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the founders of the fashion label called Opening Ceremony, asked Spike Jonze and Jonah Hill to think of a play where the outfits from the new Opening Ceremony collection instead of special theatrical costumes would be worn by models. Looks like everybody though the idea was brilliant, which, in fact, it was. The play that was called “100% Lost Cotton” was funny and had some little fashion truths in it, but we are talking about New York Fashion Week here, a show were if you can’t attract your audience by your designs, you can’t attract them at all. Luckily for Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, they managed to kill two birds with one stone: their show was remembered both for the play and the gorgeous outfits the designers had created.
So the outfits! The Opening Ceremony spring/summer 2015 collection show started very simple (at least more simple than the rest of the show): simple black and white, simple designs: white classic pants with black tops and white vests, grayish long tops with black skirts (note the cutouts at the front), simple V-neck knee length dresses combined with very hip sunglasses, basic black tee and textured costumes with white pants and so on. After this, the colors got a little brighter (nothing too dazzling though) and things got peachier (pun intended). A peach colored jacket with number of pockets (one, two, three, four, five?) worn over a white blouse and paired with knee-length wide shorts (not the cutouts on the shorts as well); a peach colored coat worn over a dress in the same color tones, white basic t-shirt with peach colored shorts and many other cool looks made an appearance.
Then we saw avalanche of pleasant colors, such as light shades of gray, orange, blue, green and a very subtle shade of pink. The prints were mostly in forms of shapes and flowing patters, although we did see a print resembling faces of women (they looked just like Opening Ceremony models with their hair and glasses and all). Layered mini skirts along with simple black, white and gray patterned dresses are what will be remembered about the last part of the show.
We believe the accessories and the footwear are worthy of a special mention. For footwear, the creators of Opening Ceremony had opted for high-heeled lace up sandals in black, white, orange and gray. Oh and if nothing else, we just dig, we crave the new Opening Ceremony sunglasses. They are just so cool! If we had a chance, we would just buy every single one of them, we are telling you! For bags, we had black leather clutches, small strapless handbags and also shoulder bags.
Wholly, the Opening Ceremony spring/summer 2015 collection has a lot to stun and to help you look as stunning as those models from this cool spectacle!
