Marchesa Spring/Summer 2013 RTW – New York Fashion Week

The upcoming warm season is definitely going to be hot, as far as evening wear is concerned, as legendary brands did their best to impress during the big Fashion Week this year. The Marchesa brand certainly did stand out with the range of ultra-sophisticated and feminine designs showcased during New York Fashion Week. Making India its main source of inspiration, the Marchesa spring/summer 2013 collection brought together vibrant colors, lots of gold embellishments, embroidery, sheer touches, asymmetrical cuts and a high dose of sophistication, which altogether can be a great way to bring out your refinement and ladylike allure on special occasions. For the spring to come, the designer duo of the fashion house, Georgia Chapman and Keren Craig, evoked the Sixties, when the Beatles got inspired by the Maharishi.

The Indian touches were more than evident throughout the Marchesa spring/summer 2013 collection. There were draped dresses with elaborate adornments, midriff-baring ghagra choli and colorful saris: the audience seemed to expect a Bollywood dance number from the models at the end of the show. Ruffles, pleats, sequins and cultural motifs were the main ingredients at Marchesa that made the pieces so ethereal and fairy-tale like. Certainly, the stars of the line were the white draped gown matched with gold-embroidered tights and the delicate tulle dress with silver embroidery shown by Carolyn Murphy.
The gorgeous Marchesa looks were finished off with sandals, pumps and platforms. Overall the looks were kept quite modest in terms of accessories, as the designs already were rich enough to dazzle!
