Kenneth Cole Spring/Summer 2014 RTW – New York Fashion Week
The Kenneth Cole spring/summer 2014 collection unveiled on the runway of New York Fashion Week represents a real twist of everything taken by small proportions: diversity of styles, color themes, fabric and shapes. “I love the convergence of all these cultures and how it feels now that they’re all starting to blend together,” this is how the creative designer of the brand describes the new Kenneth Cole collection.
The main color themes, on which the collection is based, are more exotic and natural, including shades of green, black, white and some overtones of coral. The key mix of the styles, including some elements from the eighties created with a contemporary twist, lays on the idea of blending the classical fashion interpretations with some sportswear elements. The street looks of the teenagers is mingled with the animal motives like prints and snakeskin, as well as set together with the classical suit-and-tie attitude, though exposed in the frames of some coral shades.
Transparency also plays as a key element in case of some pieces found in the Kenneth Cole spring/summer 2014 collection. The great proportions of snakeskin prints were also noticeable during the show. The blazers and vests used in some of the pieces make a cool accompaniment for the sportswear style tops. Other descriptive details of the collection were the zipper elements typical of any sportswear clothing. Finally we can’t leave aside one small and curious detail, serving like a final touch for some works: the necklace reading “Look Good Feel Good”, the use of which was a really nice idea.
In the framework of New York Fashion Week, we’ve already seen quite many collections based on the concept of style blending, but Kenneth Cole’s spring 2014 line can be clearly distinguished from others by its unique creativity and resourceful touches of modern fashion trends.
