DKNY Spring/Summer 2013 RTW – New York Fashion Week

Whenever in the Fashion Week you can see NYC background images or yellow taxis characteristic of the Big Apple, it’s clear to guess that Donna Karan is casting her gorgeous designs. So it wasn’t a big surprise to see such an image at the DKNY spring/summer 2013 fashion show unveiled at New York Fashion Week. As always, the designer looked to her hometown for inspiration and the result was a line of sexy, bold and sporty clothing pieces that came in quite surprising combinations, including a sporty DKNY printed white tee matched with a glamorous silver pencil skirt or a nylon swim top worn with linen circle skirt.

How the designer interpreted her collection? “Reflections of New York. What’s a New Yorker? Someone who’s ready for anything. Day to night, street to chic, she loves a contradiction; it defines her style. Just give her the elements, she’ll take it from there. For her, fashion is personal, an endless possibility of expression. Just like her city.”
The military trend, leather and metallic accents are going to again rule in the upcoming season, which becomes clear after a single glance at the DKNY spring/summer 2013 collection. There were lots of elegant swimsuit designs, denim pieces and every look was accessorized with stiletto sneakers. The line included sportswear inspired long dresses in white, black and vibrant yellow shades, leather dresses and skirts, cool tees and shirts, lots of cropped tops and sporty pants. Just as trendy as the collection was, it was extremely wearable and could be easily adapted to day-to-day casual looks.
