Betsey Johnson Spring/Summer 2014 RTW – New York Fashion Week
When it comes to fashion extravaganza and craziness, you can always rely on Betsey Johnson. If it’s not an original, otherworldly show, at least the collection is bright and fun. The new Betsey Johnson spring/summer 2014 collection presentation didn’t make the models do aerobics on the catwalk of New York Fashion Week, which was the designer’s tactic for the last year’s show. Still, it brought an array of eclectic looks for fashionisers, who seek to be in the center of attention with their one-of-a-kind outfits! As Mrs. Johnson stated, “It’s as serious as I can get. It’s all about the clothes, which is very rare for me.”
The fun of the Betsey Johnson spring/summer 2014 rtw show was expressed not only in the crazy pink hair of the models and the metallic silver lipstick they were wearing, but also in the range of puffy dresses, bodysuits, flared skirts, fitted jumpsuits, wild leopard prints and the Libery-inspired floral patterns. Lots of organza, frills, sparkly silver hues and neon pinks were used to give a pinch of happiness to the collection and make it a real BJ one!
Still, the Betsey Johnson spring/summer 2014 collection also brought some understated pieces, like those black or white retro flared dresses or the sleeveless ruffled one. Apparently, Betsey Johnson was trying to enlarge her market and target fashionisers of a different taste than her edgy, fun personal image.
Since there wouldn’t be BJ without a bit of show, as her new spring 2014 fashion line’s runway presentation came to a close, she appeared with her two granddaughters and, as always, did her signature cartwheel and splits, which, actually, her eldest granddaughter also did! Then the models came back to the catwalk, wearing white crop baby dolls reading “BJ One A Day” and colorful boy’s briefs, each labeled with a day of the week. They all danced to “New York, New York”, waving American flags!
