Balenciaga Resort 2016 Collection
Wang brings sexy back with a lovely, classy, utterly chic twist. The Balenciaga resort 2016 collection features the works of Alexander Wang who has been around for over two years at this point, retaining his sly sense of humor. Terry cloth was used as a logo scarf a while back, which was an interesting take on a resort collection that can take you anywhere from Alaska to the hell pits near the equator. You can be freezing or you can be drenched in sweat. No matter what, you have a towel with a white coat and trouser ensemble to at least keep you entertained. There are some interesting looks to be found this year in any case, ones, which range along the lines of peplum tops and literal safety pins keeping garments in place. Long trousers, loose in style, are reminiscent of the FW 2015 collection trends, while the styles presented do give a fresh take on a simple and elegant look.
Balenciaga goes for a lot of white for its resort collection, knowing the beach, the cruise, the ultimate vacation away from the hardships of home and work require the fresh and clean lines of a white garment. Corsets with boning appear along the way, as do silk jackets and synthetic lace skirts peeking out and about from under some rather pretty double-breasted sleeveless coats. The looks were precious, delicate, yet made for a strong woman with a lot of wit and a sharp tongue on her. Wang seems to have taken couture to the resort collection and given it all a distinctive edge. His fall show was lovely beyond belief and this seems to be an extension of all that we saw appear on the runway but 2 months back. There is a lightness factor to it all that makes the collection positively delicious, lovable in every aspect. The pieces presented here are that which can easily be slipped into for a party, a professional meeting after hours or even a gala with some rather important people. It is grounded in reality and offers a very real escape from the drearier fashions of the fall and winter line-ups.
Flouncy midi skirts and zip-up corset styles in pastel coloring are pretty pieces to consider for a stroll about the bay, while handbags that appear to be woven in with belts come in black and white and taunt our senses already accustomed to pairing the two stark contrasts throughout 2015. High waist swimsuits appear among the collection, with extra long light coats thrown over on top to prevent a chill from passing through. Oversized outfits also make the cut, though do not look half as good as the lacy strapless mini dresses with the corset bodies or the black and white wraparound design pieces with the high slits to the side. There is one thing we can easily tell will be a trend once again and that is the use of peplum. It appears all over in the Balenciaga resort collection for 2016. That and the multiple layers, the black and white trend and of course the body hugging strapless designs are so very Alexander Wang and Balenciaga.
