Anna Sui Spring/Summer 2017 Ready-to-Wear: Miss American Pie
Dubbed Miss American Pie, Anna Sui’s spring/summer 2017 ready-to-wear collection contained a dizzying number of patterns and silhouettes dosed heavily in her brand of quirky artistry. Every individual piece in every ensemble of the runway presentation has a dose of cool to it and Anna Sui just piled these elements one on top of another.
It was hard to focus on any one look in the collection as once a model turned and another portion of the ensemble was shown, another detail would catch the eye. Due to all the interesting elements, it seemed that by the time all of the outfits features could be noted, another model had already made it most of the way down the runway.
There were artful touches everywhere and a charm that appeals to a variety of tastes. Even if it would be difficult for some to wear an entire outfit as it was on the runway, there are several elements that can be chosen and folded into current wardrobes. There were understated pieces that would work well with nearly anything, and then the standout pieces that would be unmistakable anywhere, and miraculously they coexisted perfectly within this collection.
The proficiency that allows these different patters to be put together for such a fascinating show is amazing. This was an intensely complex collection that had no low points, never lost energy and definitely evoked the fun and rebirth of spring and summer. There is a lot of talent and flair showcased within Anna Sui’s brand and it was a joy to see so much in a single fashion show, though nothing less is to be expected of Anna Sui and her creative genius.
There were current takes on old school cheer uniforms, cowboy hats, and swimsuits in Anna Sui’s spring 2017 collection. There were so many details that there will undoubtedly be something for everyone, even a minimalist understated option that did not steal any vibrancy from the show.
The workmanship was impeccable and the more the collection is studied, the more appreciation there is for the creativity of the designs. This is a spring and summer collection that is full of artfulness and brilliant finesse.
All things considered, this was a very busy spring and summer collection and Anna Sui definitely created an impactful runway presentation. There are elements from every era represented in this collection and in vibrant hues that give each look even more life.
The different womenswear and menswear pieces still coordinated very well with each other without either look shining less or more than the other. It was also interesting to see the floral lace pants for men, which was very unexpected, but a cool and interesting feature to this collection.
Style is subjective and the Anna Sui spring/summer 2017 collection will certainly hit home with several personal opinions and make it easy for everyone to find quite a few fun pieces for themselves.
