Zoe Kravitz Announced as The New YSL Beauty Face
After teasing us by tagging Yves Saint Laurent Beauty on her Instagram posts while at the Met Gala, and after a few hours of non-stop speculation about her future, news that Zoe Kravitz is the new YSL Beauty brand ambassador has been officially announced. With singer/actress Zoe Kravitz as the YSL Beauty face, the French Luxury house will not only share some of the campaign’s pictures on its main social media platforms soon, but will also have the chance to experiment with something new. Kravitz’s partnership with YSL involves an upcoming video dubbed ‘Before the Light’, which will show the preparation moments right before she performs with her R&B/electropop trio Lolawolf. ‘Before the Light’ will also focus on the transformative power that makeup can have on anyone and at anytime, musicians included. Formed by Kravitz herself (who, just in case you were wondering, is Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet’s daughter), the LolaWolf has already released one studio album, and will surely add a fresh, street-style vibe to the campaign.
The 27-year-old Divergent and X-Men: First Class star has been chosen by YSL Beauty’s headquarters not only due to her unique style (which is the perfect combination of her parents’ looks and her own quirkiness), but also due to her astonishing career as an actress and frontwoman. Her style, as well her career, will be empowering indeed especially to many young girls and 20-something women.
“Zoë is not afraid to stand up for what she believes — we love her confidence and authenticity as much as we admire her kindness, humility and deep respect for individuality. In addition to her incredible talent as an artist, Zoë’s inner and outer beauty truly represents today’s modern woman. As a YSL Beauty muse, Zoë represents the brand’s vision of beauty, appealing to women of all ethnicities to become empowered through style and beauty;” Alexandre Choueiri, L’Oreal International Designer Collections Division’s president declared in a statement.
As for Zoe herself, who is about to follow in the footsteps of famous fashion personalities such as Cara Delevingne and Edie Campbell, she is more than enthusiastic about the opportunity, and can’t wait to start working for YSL Beauty. “YSL has always been one of my favorite brands. Their ability to combine the chicest of style with a raw edge has always been to me one of the best ways to express yourself through fashion and beauty. Nothing is forced, nothing is fake, but everything is bold, strong, and unafraid. I’m very excited to work with this legendary and timeless company,” she stated.
