Dita Von Teese Shows How to Create the Perfect Red Lip Look
Have you heard of Dita Von Teese? We would be horrified if you did not, not just surprised! She is best known for her fascination with 1940s cinema and for that very vintage look of hers, particularly those incredibly red lips that we all hope to emulate. So how exactly can we get those luscious lips that are the biggest thing missing from your fashion life right now? We want to know the right techniques so we too can have that classic screen siren red lipped look that is a perfectly painted crimson pucker. Dita Von Teese has officially made a red lip makeup tutorial and we have no problems watching her go through step by step as we mirror the actions and hope for the best.
Dita Von Teese, born Heather Renee Sweet on September 28 of 1972, is the very embodiment of classical sexiness. She is an American burlesque dancer, model, costume designer, entrepreneur and occasional actress and is said to have been one of those who brought back the burlesque performance’s popularity. She was also formerly married to Marilyn Manson for about two years before cutting it off in 2007. At the age of 43, she constantly makes waves in the fashion industry and most especially on the red carpet, her classical good looks lending to her fan base the fan to the flames. She is also of part Armenian heritage, along with a good dose of English, Scottish and German.

The red lip tutorial shows Dita Von Teese, a name she adopted during her Playboy days as a tribute to silent film actress Dita Parlo, without any lipstick; that is certainly a gorgeous sight to see as well! It is not every day we see the woman bare of her colored mask over her pout. The clip in of itself is three minutes long, with more or less each minute featuring one of three bold looks she presents.
So why the lipstick? “Nobody ever sees me undone, but there are tricks to it. I’m always wearing my red lipstick, but it’s usually paired with my big sunglasses so that you can’t see that there’s nothing else on. And a neat chignon, which is something I believe in. You should teach yourself to do one thing that makes you feel good that only takes five minutes to get out of the house. That will make your day better. I talk about how I simplify things and how it appears that I have a polished look, but what I really have is a carefully practiced look that I can do in mere minutes and how to go about that.”
How do we actually get that exact same look, in a hot pink pout, a cherry red pucker and a matte, deep ruby red lip that is all about the Dita Von Teese glamour? The celeb’s tips for the right look no matter the shade or texture use the following steps:
1. Start with a lip liner: Always have a matching lip liner to your lipstick, saturating the look and allowing to overdraw the lip just a bit before coloring it in with both the liner and the rouge. This offers both depth and staying power. Dita uses a MAC lip pencil in Cherry.
2. Finish with a lip liner: Use the same lip liner once you have applied the lipstick as well to keep it all in check and prevent bleeding of the color outside of your outline.
3. Find the right color for you: Whether it is a splurge or a steal, it matters not how much the lipstick costs at the end. What is important is that it is the perfect color for you.
4. Use your pinky: Resting your pinky against your chin while applying the liner or lipstick gives your hand the steadiness necessary to make the lips just perfect. While some may think a not so perfect red lip is sexy, DVT vehemently disagrees and we are inclined to agree with that as well.
At the end of the day, pick a beauty technique that makes you feel good and stick with it. Whether you are modelling or going on a date, shopping or working from home, always wear that style and just feel fabulous about it. If you plan to take on the red lips of Dita Von Teese… well, let us just say she just showed herself sans lipstick just for you! That in of itself is a grand feat!
