Beyonce Launching a Clothing Line With Topshop Owner Philip Green
Who runs the world? While many of you would automatically answer ‘girls!’, Beyonce’s catchy tune may find a new answer today, being it herself. Known to the world as ‘Queen Bee’, besides being an entrepreneur, singer, songwriter, dancer, mom and wife, Beyonce is now also launching a clothing line with tycoon Topshop owner Philip Green. It will be a streetwear line called Parkwood Topshop Athletic, and it is set to hit the stores and Topshop’s website in spring 2016. Beyonce’s streetwear line will go for sale in 20 countries around the world but do not worry, if yours is not be part of the picture, Topshop’s online store is here to stay.
There have often been rumors about an imminent partnership between the 34-year-old pop star and Green, and just a few hours ago Topshop owner (who also owns Dorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridge), finally spilled the beans confirming the good news. Rumors that Queen Bee was interested in making a move in the fashion industry actually date back to 2014, when Sir Green and Miss Knowles had discussions regarding a new global fashion company.
Now that it is finally here, the upcoming thrilling fashion collaboration will be featuring a lot of athleisure pieces, including accessories and footwear. It is going to be a stylish and highly functional line-up, in the name of the perfect athleisure trend. Moreover, Parkwood Topshop Athletic is said to introduce a new era for Topshop.
Regarding the launch of Beyonce’s streetwear line, Topshop group’s parent company Arcadia officially stated that: “We are developing our distribution globally for the launch of this exciting new brand in spring 2016.” Arcadia’s owner Taveta also hopes to make Topshop’s profits rise, while Sir Philip Green hopes to overcome Topshop’s recent challenging time (the company has recently reported a 0.9% drop in sales in the UK).
Such revolution may actually have already begun, since Keeping up with the Kardashians youngest cast members, the Jenners, united forces to create a festive collection with Topshop. However, unlike this and other previous partnerships such as the Kate Moss x Topshop collection, Beyonce’s fashion line won’t be a mere collaboration, but rather a brand new company within an already famous company.
Beyonce, who has always called herself a Topshop enthusiast, will probably use her first fashion venture, called the House of Dereon, as an example for joining this new experiment, the results of which will mark a turning point for Sir Philip Green, too.
“We have been looking at this category as fashion inspired fitness develops, and know that this is right in our customers’ heartland. Creating a partnership with Beyoncé, one of the most hard-working and talented people in the world, who spends many hours of her life dancing, rehearsing and training is a unique opportunity to develop this category,” Green recently stated.
