The Adidas Originals by Mary Katrantzou fall 2014 collection is a spectacular new original series of kaleidoscope-themed products that truly highlight the designer’s unique perspective on color and fashion and how it can be enmeshed in the world of sports attire. Her iconic hyper-color designs are fully emblazoned across the new Adidas collection, which includes both footwear and innovative apparel designs. A vision of strength and all things strongly feminine, Mary Kantrantzou has outdone herself during this latest collaboration with the famous sportswear brand.
According to the line’s webpage, Mary is as excited to be working with Adidas as we are to see the final products that will be available in stores from November 15, 2014. Her tenacious zeal to spice of the sports industry through her designs for Adidas is fuelled by her love for the brand, which was inspired by her childhood sneakers. What Adidas needed from Mary was something distinctively feminine, a prospect, which enthused the designer to no end. Pushing herself to test the boundaries and see what can be achieved by taking a classic running shoe as inspiration: the Adidas Originals by Mary Katrantzou fall 2014 collection we see before us is young, fun, and speaks of enjoying life through clothes.
Sporty bomber jackets, neoprene dresses and sweatshirts, as well as the athletic brand’s classic popular signature sneakers have all seen a splash of color and efficiently trendy design from the vivacious designer, who has joined the ranks of famous collaborators alongside Stella McCartney, Raf Simons, and Jeremy Scott. We were warned about what to expect back in April and it seems our anticipation has finally come to its end. Only 2 more weeks and we are able to get our fashion-loving hands on the newest Adidas designs, particularly the deconstructed loafers and trainers.
We don’t know about you, but we are super-hyped to add some of these lovely sportswear pieces to our closets. Whether you are into the sweater dress, the turtleneck sweater or just want those sneakers, the new Adidas Originals by Mary Katrantzou collection has it all. Perhaps the wilder designs appeal to the younger generation, but those who want something a little subtler will find at least one or two different footwear designs suitable for their tastes. If anything these appear to even top some of the better designs seen in the market today!
Our personal favourites include the silver sneaker with the Adidas print all over, the more elegant green and white sneaker with its matching sweater (it provides enough of a contrast to be eye-catching, while subtle enough to match most personal tastes), and blue abstract sneaker print sweater dress. There’s certain attractiveness to the colors of blue and green, which, while showing off extravagant fashion styles, mute the possible excessiveness and create a more pleasantly calm atmosphere. Of course, the collection’s main goal is not so much calm as it is wild pleasure.
When asked about the greatest lessons learned, this famed designer has one thing to say, the experience most definitely opened her eyes to the possibility of incorporating new technologies into her future collections. We can most definitely be looking forward to seeing more of Mary Katrantzou again soon enough!
