Red carpets became the hottest spot for naked fashion choices. The sheer trend has been around for a while now, but stars don’t seem to be ready to let it go yet. From entirely see-through numbers to bejeweled elegant yet sheer dresses, A-listers keep serving daring looks on every big event. Feast your eyes on the riskiest, most impressive naked celebrity dresses our eyes have seen in 2018.
Long-serving Victoria’s Secret Angel Adriana Lima made jaws drop with her bejeweled entirely see-through number at the Elton John AIDS Foundation party.
Everlane is about to make yet another part of our lives easier – shopping for lingerie. For years ladies were convinced that they should sacrifice their comfort in order to look sexy. The apparel brand that offers some of the best affordable classic pieces out there is finally expanding into underwear. Moreover, Everlane is on a mission to turn the lingerie industry upside down. The brand’s new line is sort of a threat for underwear giants such as Victoria’s Secret and Agent Provocateur that ruled the industry in the past. Lace, frills, uncomfortable tiny thongs, bras with wires that go on your nerves – Everlane wants you to forget about all that and wear lingerie for the sake of your comfort.
“Underwear should be made for you. But for decades, it’s been designed with someone else in mind. Bras that push, pad and squeeze. Fabrics that suffocate. Lace that chafes. The industry has made billions telling women that in order to feel sexy, they need to look like something they’re not. But times are changing — and so should our underwear,” the brand stated in a press release.
To be honest, almost every lady out there is guilty of putting on an uncomfortable sexy lingerie for somebody else. Although there might be nothing wrong with that, Everlane is all about “no bulls*it” bras, pants and more. The brand had been working on their underwear line for two years to develop comfortable but appealing pieces. Forget about granny pants, Everlane is bringing modern minimalistic lingerie in the game. Made of Supima cotton, the brand’s underwear feels soft and is made to last. The Supima cotton consists of extra-long fibers that won’t let these pieces stretch out easily.
The styles break down to four types of bottoms (a thong, bikini, hipster and high-rise hipster), all priced at $12, tank bra that retails for $22, and bodysuit with a price tag of $30. Every piece is available in neutral colors such as black, white, pale pink and gray. For men, Everlane offers $18 boxer briefs in white, black, gray and navy. The sizes go from XS to XL. Everlane faced criticism for their size range in the past, but the brand promised that a more inclusive size range is “in the works”. According to the brand, customers should expect a better size range sometime this year.
The campaign for Everlane’s underwear line celebrates real beauty. The brand invited Jemima Kirke and three other diverse models to star in the campaign. The “Girls” star flashes her abs in the unretouched body-positive shots. The rest of the cast includes women of different shapes and sizes. The brand used zero photoshop in the making of its underwear campaign. The line will launch on March 26.

Last year we had predictions that 2018 will be the year of fur-free fashion. We are always pleased to hear that more and more fashion labels say no to fur. Last week. Donatella Versace announced that she will no longer kill animals in the name of fashion. San Francisco will also join the no-fur movement starting from January 1. The city’s board of supervisors voted to ban the sale of fur, making San Francisco the largest city in the USA to do so. Every member of the board agreed that the city needs to stop selling fur items. The board hopes that this decision will inspire other cities in the country to follow their steps.
“This has been one of the things on their agenda, especially in San Francisco. We know that when we do things in San Francisco that a lot of times it will get attention nationally and globally. We also feel a big responsibility when we’re in a position like this because it could really make a huge impact,” a spokesperson of the board of supervisors said in a statement.
After January 1, every retailer that sells apparel or accessories with new fur will be punished with $500 fine per violation. For example, if there are 5 items made of new fur, that will result in 5 violations. For those who have purchased fur to this date, there is a one-year amnesty on the fine. The fur ban in San Francisco is a follow-up to the anti-fur initiatives from other cities in the USA as well as other countries. West Hollywood was the first city in the USA to prohibit the sale of fur back in 2011. Berkeley did the same in 2017. Next, the U.K’s fur ban act “prohibits the keeping of animals solely or primarily for slaughter for the value of their fur”. Other countries that have banned fur farming include Australia and the Netherlands. The Netherlands also has plans to shot down mink farms by 2024. Norway has similar plans, expected to be fully realized by 2025. This country has also banned fur farms.
This year many fashion brands joined the anti-fur family. Besides Versace, Gucci, Diane von Furstenberg, Michael Kors and Jimmy Choo said no to fur just recently. Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney and Tommy Hilfiger have been fur-free for years. Many nowadays customers, especially those who belong to the younger generations don’t support animal cruelty in fashion. Their ethical preferences together with the efforts of animal activists have made many brands to exclude fur from their offerings. It is revolutionary that even entire cities decided to join the anti-fur policy.
Britney Spears is Miss American Dream since she was 17, but somehow never conquered the world of high fashion. The pop star has been famous for decades now, but not a single designer tapped her to star in a campaign. You might have noticed that Britney doesn’t go on fashion shows as well. The most surprising fact is that after all these years, she has never attended the most glamorous A-list event, the Met Gala.
However, the star just landed her first high-fashion gig – the luxury fashion house Kenzo tapped Spears to star in its Spring 2018 campaign. To be honest, Britney never seemed very interested in high fashion. She has been wearing the same style of bejeweled naked dresses on her performances and kept her street style mainly casual for years now. Anyway, the pop star proved that she can front a luxury campaign like a pro.
Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, the creative directors of Kenzo chose Spears for their “nostalgia-based” campaign. Their Spring 2018 collection for the brand is a tribute to the launch of Kenzo Jeans in 1986. The singer models the pieces from the brand’s La Collection Memento No. 2 collection. She wears multiple playful outfits. All of them are finished off with a chic baseball hat. In one of the shots, Britney flaunts vibrant floral print coordinates that feature crop top, skirt and trench coat. In another photo, you can see the star rocking an all-denim look that consists of hot thigh-high lace-up booties, denim lingerie, and chic cropped denim jacket. In some of the photos, Spears’s belly-button piercing and back tattoo are visible. The 36-year old singer admitted that she is less keen on taking fashion risks now that she has been in the past.
“It’s tricky [now] because as a mother, you don’t take as much risk with your style,” she told Vogue.
The Spring 2018 Kenzo Campaign was shot in Los Angeles by Peter Lindbergh. The fashion house made a bold choice with making Britney Spears their new face. Instead of hiring someone from the millennial generation to model the pieces, they made a unique choice. To see the 2000s biggest pop star in a luxury campaign for the first time in her long career felt refreshing. We finally saw a piece of the old Britney Spears who likes to experiment with her style. We have yet to see if Kenzo will inspire more brands to invite the Queen of Pop in their world of high fashion.
