Nicholas Kirkwood Shoes for Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2012-2013
A fancy costume definitely requires fancy footwear and hardly could the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2012-2013 look so complete, divine and stunning, let there not be the killer shoes designed by Nicholas Kirkwood especially for this year’s show. The gorgeous VS Angels hit the catwalk, sporting Cinderella transparent shoes on towering high heels, to-die-for forest inspired strappy sandals, knee-high boots and high top trainers with roller-skate wheels or high platforms decorated with crystals. The Nicholas Kirkwood shoes for Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2012-2013 are absolutely breathtaking and deserve special attention.
In an interview with Vogue, the London-based designer revealed more details about the collaboration, saying, “Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou, who styles the show, approached me earlier this year to see if I’d be interested in collaborating. They gave me the six themes, sketches and access to the fabrications. From there it was about creating styles that worked with each look, making sure each shoe reflected the theme.”
So the Nicholas Kirkwood shoes for Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2012 were inspired from the six themes of the entire VS show, which were Circus, Silver Screen, Dangerous Liaisons, Calendar, Toy Pink and Angel in Bloom.
Kirkwood then added, “I didn’t know exactly which model would be wearing each style but you definitely think about the personality of a Victoria’s Secret model and the fantasy they look to create on the runway. I think Victoria’s Secret is so popular purely because it is a fantasy – they have fun with it and it’s desirable.”
Apparently, the designer too pushed the boundary of fashion rules and created fantasy shoes, which one could hardly be able to wear in the streets. Imagine you walking on a wheeled platform, while wandering with friends! Even if you say that you can sport them on the daily basis, unfortunately, you won’t be able to get these shoes in stores, as they were designed exclusively for the show. The designer explained this in the same interview, saying that, “They were purely for the show, but we of course can make to order through our own stores. There are some styles in-store that are representative of what was seen on the runway.”
This may mean an exciting collaboration with Victoria’s Secret! What Kirkwood said, was, “I look forward to it if so.”
