This Is The Boot Gigi Hadid Has Designed for Stuart Weitzman
Gigi Hadid has designed an everyday, high-heeled boot – named the Gigi Boot for Stuart Weitzman. In the beginning of October we talked about Gigi Hadid trying her hand at footwear design and how excited we were to see her new venture, especially after Tommy x Gigi went live. Finally, we can see the limited edition Gigi Hadid boot for Stuart Weitzman, in multiple colors available on StuartWeitzman.com! Gigi Hadid is already the face of Stuart Weitzman’s fall 2016 campaign and given her current efforts of branching out with her own designs, it is no surprise to see her in footwear.
The answer to our previous question about what type of footwear Gigi Hadid’s collaboration with Stuart Weitzman would produce has been answered. She created her version of an everyday boot, one that can go from casual to sexy to sporty as needed.
Quoted from an interview with Vogue, Hadid said the following: “I was really thinking of myself in New York, running around everywhere during the day and at night,” already letting us know that these boots can hold up to your day as well as hers.
She continued on, saying: “I was always able to come up with the look for the shoe in my brain, but they were a bit harder to execute than clothing. These designs have the ability to go from sexy to sporty, and they have an agility to them but a gracefulness at the same time.”
The boot is actually a lace-up bootie that is inspired by hiking boots, features a stacked heel, detailed collar and a combat silhouette accented with duo toned laces and metallic eyelets. The shoes will only be sold on the Stuart Weitzman website and in the Stuart Weitzman stores.
The stacked heel is purported to not only provide the wearer with stability, but durability – apparently enough for collision sports as Gigi Hadid is seen in her promotional video working out in her Gigi Boot, specifically in the boxing ring. The video is a short film created to promote the shoe and directed by James Franco, another celebrity well known for branching out into multiple venues as Gigi herself is doing now.
Gigi Hadid is happy to support a good cause, so a portion of the proceeds from the boots, which start at $565 for the metallic style boots and $598 for the croc-calf style boots will go towards Pencils of Promise. Pencils of Promise (aka PoP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to education and creating educational opportunities in areas of the developing world. The organization builds schools, funds scholarships and trains teachers for the school they build all over the world.
Pencils of Promise will work with Stuart Weitzman as the brand has reported to be committed to building a trio of schools in the Muang Loa (Laos), the Republic of Guatemala and the Republic of Ghana. What do you think of the boots?
