Agent Provocateur x Charlotte Olympia Collaboration
Agent Provocateur has teamed up with Charlotte Olympia Dellal’s eponymous footwear/accessory brand for a collection featuring a variety of shoes and some steamy lingerie. Julia Restoin Roitfeld was cast as the model for the Agent Provocateur x Charlotte Olympia campaign, and her platinum-blonde hair emphasizes the chic black and white styled photoshoot. These two brands have paired off in the past for footwear styles, and even though she is no stranger to the design of lingerie, this is Dellal’s first intimates collection with AP.
“I have always loved lingerie, and when I first started to study fashion design I was very interested in corsetry,” Dellal said, in an interview with Vogue. “I’ve been collecting Agent Provocateur’s beautiful lingerie for years. I almost have more lingerie than shoes! Both brands share similar sensibilities – we’re feminine, playful, and love glamour.”
And this pinup inspired line reflects those sentiments. Not only are the looks fun and flirty, but also versatile. For instance, all of the shoes in this collection double for footwear that could be worn on the streets, or even in the bedroom. So they’re perfect to wear any time of day, wherever you may be. To an extent, this whole collection is something you can wear out and feel totally sexy in the process, which is something Dellal advocates for, as she said to Vogue.com: “Lingerie and shoes, high heels in particular, make you feel a certain way – underwear, a new pair of shoes, and a new haircut!”
So even though not all of these garments are meant to be seen by the public, wearing them might give you a confidence boost, so your personality can be as daring as these pieces look. New lingerie can do wonders for your self-esteem, and new shoes can brighten anyone’s day. This collection brings the perfect balance to this, with three lingerie looks and three pairs of shoes to go with them.
Creative director of AP Sarah Shotton interviewed with Vogue.com, and show that these pieces have significance with Dellal and her family.
“Alice Dellal [Charlotte’s younger sister] used to model for us and go out wearing our underwear,” Shotton began, “but so did Charlotte, wearing our big satin, very ‘50s-looking suspender knickers. I think it was quite conscious [with this collection] that she wanted to do something that you could wear out, like the leopard teddy.”
It might be hard for some people to wrap their minds around wearing lingerie out and about, but in some cases the result is the perfect balance between bold and demure, as there is just enough covered up, but you know you’re being ultra-daring, especially in this case, as rompers are still in style. This would make for a feminine and comfy set of pajamas, but it’s not unrealistic for this to worn out as well.
Whether you’re looking for some sexy new pieces for your very personal wardrobe or some fun new pieces for your everyday closet, you’ll be able to find it in this collection when it is released on January 18 at Agent Provocateur locations and its website, Charlotte Olympia (if you’re only looking to buy the shoes), and Net-a-Porter.
