Models designing capsules is the next big thing in fashion. After the planetary success of Gigi Hadid’s collaborations with Tommy Hilfiger, and Bella Hadid’s with Chrome Hearts, another rising star is going the same way. The partnership between the iconic Karl Lagerfeld and Kaia Gerber was announced earlier this year. A few months later, we finally have a first look at what the model-of-the-moment included in her first capsule.
The iconic designer Karl Lagerfeld partnered with the trending Australian beauty brand to create a makeup collection. ModelCo is a very popular makeup label that has been on the market for over 15 years. With this huge collaboration, Karl wanted to expand his influence and satisfy the needs women of different ages. The line will feature more than 50 products including face and lip goodies.
The chief executive officer of Karl Lagerfeld, Pier Paolo Righi stated that ModelCo is a “creative and innovative company, with a team that thinks out of the box. They are very connected with a Millennial audience and deeply grounded in fashion. At the same time, ModelCo resonated with the iconic, playful DNA at the heart of Karl Lagerfeld. This helped to bring this project to life, creatively, in the product palette we developed together. We felt that these attributes made them a perfect match with what we stand for and who we want to connect with. This collaboration presents a new, very relevant way to connect with our audience, for whom we are much more than a fashion brand — we are a fashionable companion in their daily lives.”
The two brands spent a lot of time making the products special with developing both a quality formula and gorgeous packaging. They wanted to offer high-quality makeup that also stands out in terms of packaging. For the first time ever, ModelCo introduces the special LED light and mirror system for the Lip Lights products. The Lip Lights part of the line includes eight shades of lip gloss, eight matte lipstick colors and four different tones of the special-effect topcoat.
Lagerfeld is one of the most renowned designers in the world, and he exceeds in aesthetics like no one else. So, he made sure that the packaging is as unique as his clothing creations. Karl placed his recognizable logo on a lot of the items as a special final touch. A part of the products will even feature references to his iconic cat Choupette. Aside from the lip goodies, the collaboration will also introduce quality mascaras, long-lasting eyeliner, makeup brushes, highlighters, blush, brow products, eyeshadow palettes and more.
The Karl Lagerfeld x ModelCo collection will drop on May 14. It will be a global launch, so the chances are you’ll be able to snatch it from a store near you or get it online. Europe, the U.K., and the U.S. are the three markets that ModelCo will focus on for the joined collaboration. Prices will range between $15 and $195.

Just months ago Kaia Gerber was a breakout model dominating the spring/summer 2018 fashion shows during the fashion month. Cindy Crawford‘s heiress is unstoppable by this point with many campaigns, deals and probably another busy fashion month. Moreover, the 16-year old model scored another exciting project with the fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld. Many models are happy enough if they get to walk for him, but Kaia Gerber doesn’t stop there. The young star will work together with the designer on a capsule collection. She is only 16, but already Karl Lagerfeld’s muse. Kaia Gerber opened Chanel‘s spring/summer 2018 show in October upon Karl’s request. Now she will get in the role of a designer for his eponymous line.
The Karl Lagerfeld x Kaia Gerber collection will offer ready-to-wear clothing line as well as jewelry, footwear, and sunglasses. The collaborative collection will blend Lagerfeld’s Parisian aesthetic and Gerber’s cool Californian style. Gallic chicness is the theme for the eveningwear, while the West Coast effortless style will influence the daywear. Kaia is already a style icon, flaunting the most stylish designer combos around, but now she officially earned her It status. The unspoken rule says that if one wants to get the It status, one has to get in the role of a designer. She is very young, but fashion is in her DNA. Her supermodel mother and model-turned-entrepreneur father most certainly taught her a thing or two about fashion. So, now we can finally call Kaia Gerber an It model.
A representative of the Karl Lagerfeld brand already revealed that the designer and the model have been intensely working on their collection over the past few months on a relation Los Angeles – Paris. Apparently, Kaia already proved her designing talent to Karl Lagerfeld, but there is still a long way until we see the pieces. The collaborative capsule is set to launch in September with a series of events in Los Angeles, New York, and Paris. The pieces will be available exclusively in the brand’s brick-and-mortar and virtual stores.
Speculations say that the Karl Lagerfeld x Kaia Gerber collaboration will follow the success of the infamous Tommy x Gigi partnership. The American designer and his Californian muse rose to unbelievable heights with their collaborative capsules. The duo is already preparing for their new collection scheduled to unveil in Milan in February. We are already excited to see which collaboration will perform better.
With the athleisure style at its peak, is no wonder that more and more high fashion designers are collaborating with sportswear brands. The legendary Karl Lagerfeld and the skateboarding shoe brand Vans joined their forces for the first time. Many were surprised that the king of couture decided to design a collection for the streets. Although Karl is a long-year creative director of Chanel, the fashion house won’t be involved in the collaboration. Karl’s eponymous label teamed up with Vans on a capsule collection. This is not the first time for Karl to design sneakers. His label offers a variety of trainers, loafers, and pumps.
Vans x Karl Lagerfeld collaboration resulted in 12-piece capsule collection of sleek black sneakers. Without a doubt, Karl designed the new It sneakers of the season. These sophisticated black designs will make you want to ditch your colorful summer sneakers as soon as possible. The sneakers channel Karl’s “evolving design aesthetic with iconic elements from his timeless career.” Lagerfeld upgraded some of the Vans classics. To be more specific, Karl took over Vans’ Old Skool, Sk-8 Hi, and Classic Slip-On and infused them with his signature design aesthetic. He mixed his recognizable motifs like boucle fabric, K-quilted letter, his profile and Chanel’s tweed with Vans’ checkerboard print.
The Old Skool and Sk-8 sneaker styles are very popular at the moment, so the timing for the collection was just perfect. The slip-on sneakers in this collection are covered with Karl Lagerfeld’s tiny profiles and look insanely cool. The color palette is simple and features only a black, white and gray color.
Besides sneakers, the Karl Lagerfeld x Vans capsule includes bomber jacket, leather backpack, cap and graphic tees. As expected the tees feature the designer’s profile. The profile is just a small detail incorporated under the letter K. The pieces are timeless but they’ll sure be in the center of the attention once the biggest trendsetters get their hands on them.
Vans x Karl Lagerfeld collection will launch on September 7, on the same day the New York Fashion Week starts. The pieces will be available at selected Karl Lagerfeld boutiques and Vans stores. The collection will also launch on karl.com and vans.com. The items will cost between $40-$300. This capsule collection is a dream come true for those who can’t wait to flaunt Karl’s designs on the streets.

Karl Lagerfeld Paris and supermodel Stella Maxwell teamed up on a classy ad campaign. The inspiration and the theme for the campaign came from Lagerfeld’s favorite city. He has shown on many occasions that The City of Lights is an endless source of inspiration for his work. In the shots, Stella is transformed into a stylish and elegant Parisian girl.
“European elegance walks with a contemporary edge—all with the designer’s signature wit and insouciance.”- states the official press release for the campaign.
The pictures were taken by Daniel Jackson. This was quite a surprise, knowing that Lagerfeld prefers to shoot his own campaigns. The Fall 2017 collection delivers many unique and chic designs, that are all in Karl’s recognizable style. His love for masculine figures and cuts is still present but is softened with some feminine details.
“We shot [the campaign] in New York with Daniel Jackson. We recreated Paris. The team had set up a whole projection to simulate the city lights, the iconic monuments and all the biggest historical places in Paris. It was pretty rad. It’s a nice little take from being in the city in the city itself.”- Stella told InStyle.
In the ad, Stella is standing in front of a projected screen and moves simultaneously to the catchy music in the background. The projected images show the biggest and most popular landmarks in Paris. The supermodel is dressed in pieces from Karl’s collection and looks like a born and raised Parisian. The striking black and white strapless dress is definitely a statement-making piece. Aside from the astonishing clothes, Karl Lagerfeld Paris offers high-quality bags, shoes, and accessories for Fall 2017.
“Karl knows how to design for the modern girl. You’re so comfortable in Karl Lagerfeld’s collection; comfortable yet elegant and still very cool. He’s always one step ahead of the trends. He knows how to keep it tomboyish but still feminine.”- Stella explained.
During the last Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, Karl received La Medaille Grand Vermeil De la Ville de Paris. This medal represents the city’s highest honor. Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris presented the award and gave a very empowering speech. She thanked the great Lagerfeld for his work and continuous achievements for the city.
Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director of Chanel, usually gets inspired on the road. He takes Chanel’s cruise collections to beautiful destinations and never misses a chance to collect impressions from the local culture and incorporate them into his further designs. Chanel’s resort caravansary visited Dubai, Seoul, and Havana in the last couple of years.
Anyway, for his Fall 2017 Collection, he decided to stay home, in Paris and provide his audience in Grad Palais with an outstanding fashion show experience and mesmerizing creations. In honor of his Resort 2018 Collection, “La Modernité de l’Antiquité” Karl brought the ancient Greek spirit in Paris, once again in Grand Palais.
For the purpose of presenting his new Resort, 2018 Collection Ionic columns dominated in the interior of Gran Palais. In the background, Chanel’s spectators could see a subtle Greek sunset painted on the wall.
Karl Lagerfeld explained that the starting point for his inspiration was a bust of Venus in Coco’s Chanel apartment. About his ancient Greece inspired collection he said: “The criteria of beauty in ancient, then classical, Greece still hold true. There have never been more beautiful representations of women. Or more beautiful columns. The entire Renaissance, in fact, was based on antiquity. It is really about the youth of the world in all its power and unpredictability.“
Karl’s favorite models added a new dimension to the presentation of the collection. His muse Vittoria Ceretti had the honor to open the show. Besides Vittoria, Binx Walton, Lindsay Wixon, Kiki Willens, Arizona Muse and Amanda Sanchez were part of the dream team who showed off Karl’s iconic creations to the audience. Karl closed the show with his youngest model Hudson Kroenig.
In terms of his designs for the Resort 2018 Collection, Karl got inspired from the red and black figure-painted pottery that is characteristic for Ancient Greece. He incorporated illustrations that breathe in the spirit of Ancient Greece into his dresses. Part of his dresses featured relaxed breezy fit. On the other hand, the bias-draped gowns paired with golden headbands were a truly dramatic moment.
Karl completed his creations with authentic column-heeled gladiator sandals. Apparently, gladiator sandals are the latest trend from the haute couture. Rihanna was the first one that agreed with Karl and wore her strappy sandals “Riri” by Dsquared2 at the Met Gala 2017.
Karl Lagerfeld’s former luxury Monaco mansion opened its doors to the public this past weekend. The three-story villa with a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean sits on a cliff top above Monte-Carlo beach club.
Karl Lagerfeld bought the villa in 1986 and renovate it. He bought the villa together with the furniture from Prince Rainier and the Société des Bains de Mer for $14 million. Karl owned the mansion for a decade during the Eighties and Nineties. Back in the eighties for an interview for the fashion magazine W Karl said:
“It’s the safest place in the world. It’s impossible to get near the place. No public road passes by and you have to go through two gates to get inside. It doesn’t even have an address, so no one can write to me here.”
Karl Lagerfeld made some major changes to his mansion. He transformed the trio of sitting rooms on the first floor into a party room with a ballroom and a billiards room. He used his ballroom on the first floor as a photo studio as well. The top floor was Karl’s personal space that included a bedroom with a private balcony and a canopied Marie Antoinette bed. On the second floor, there were two bathrooms. One of his bathrooms was with a Mediterranean view and was created for a morning and day use. The second one offered a view of Monte Carlo by night.
The mansion was built in 1902 for Sir William Ingram, a British publishing magnate. The breathtaking property is named “La Vigie” and the name means “the lookout tower”. During World War II the villa was occupied by German troops.
Lately, the villa was used as a hotel and during the weekends was hosting the new design fair Nomad which is a showcase and salesroom for collectible design. The event will be happening every year at a different location. So far, some of the world’s most respected galleries displayed pieces by popular artists, designers, and architects. Massimo De Carlo, Nilufar, and David Gill Galleries are just a few of the many well-known galleries that took place at the design fair. Designs by Campana Brothers and Zaha Hadid were among the ones that got most of the attention.
Considering the privacy that this villa offers, the decision to open the villa to the public was a huge surprise.
Karl Lagerfeld products are featuring his face and signature in cooler and more amazing ways with each collection released. Currently Lagerfeld is working with Steven Wilson, a talented UK illustrator to create a limited edition capsule collection featuring color-printing treatments for incredible results.
Steven Wilson has actually created other pieces for large brands but is hardly ever name checked and so his work is used anonymously and fans don’t know. Wilson has worked with Nike, Converse, Levi’s and Stussy. With his capsule collection with Karl Lagerfeld, we will be able to spread the word about his name and his work as fans.
About working with Lagerfeld on this collection Steven Wilson noted: “All too often my work is used anonymously under a brand name, so to have the opportunity to have my name and work used alongside Karl Lagerfeld is very special.”
The Steven Wilson for Karl Lagerfeld capsule collection will include accessories and clothing bearing color printing treatments using layers of the base hues for the printing process: cyan, magenta and yellow. The graphics created certainly pop and the capsule collection will be exceptional. The pieces that are already showing are pretty amazing.
Officially the collection will be available both in stores and online as of April 1st. The collection features graphics that include Lagerfeld’s famous cat Choupette, a camera, a pair of sunglasses, Karl Lagerfeld’s face and, of course, the brand logo.
The collaboration between the two is producing results so interesting that it will be a race to see what limited edition items will be gone first. The interesting prints are placed in more ways that many would have thought of, placed strategically to boost the interest of the piece it is placed on.
The actual clothing items so far include several sweatshirts and jeans, an assortment of accessories like tote bags and even an embroidered satin bomber jacket. The treatments take them from great pieces to amazing pieces, that much is obvious.
Steven Wilson stated: “The principle behind the graphics is that they are made using just three layers. Abstract cyan, magenta and yellow shapes are laid on top of one another to create a design that has identifiable form. The beauty of this process is that where the colors overlap, you get secondary colors — red, green and so on.”
The process is cool, but the effects are amazing and beautiful. This may be one of the best Lagerfeld collaborations yet, and the Steven Wilson x Karl Lagerfeld collection is sure to fly off the shelf, and hopefully those of us with designs on a particular piece can get one in time or hope for another round or revisitation of the collection in the future.

News that Karl Lagerfeld was partnering with Swaroski to design a jewelry collection broke the headlines back in January, leaving everyone thrilled to see the sneak peeks of the items. Three months after, the first pictures of Karl Lagerfeld’s Swarovski jewelry collection get finally revealed, with the results being jaw-dropping indeed!
Set to go on sale at the Swarovski Crystal Worlds and Karl Lagerfeld retailers, as well as in selected stores and online at karl.com in September, Karl Lagerfeld’s Swarovski jewelry collection could be also regarded as relatively and surprisingly affordable, as the price tags will range from €50 to €250 (now circa $54 and $270 accordingly).
Set to debut at the Baselworld fair, which lasts from this Thursday up until March 30th and where Gucci’s Le Marché des Merveilles collection of watches is set to be presented as well, Karl Lagerfeld’s collection for Swarovski is actually going to include three different line-ups per year, with the first one dubbed The Ikonic line, the second one The Klassic Karl and the third and last one The Essentials.
Each line reflects Lagerfeld’s different, eclectic approaches to jewelry, with all of the different items being suitable for any taste. While the Ikonic line transposes Lagerfeld’s glam-rock aesthetics to luxury, with asymmetrical necklaces exuding edgy vibes, Klassic Karl is an ode to Lagerfeld’s intimate world, with his famed cat Choupette being the inspiration behind various designs. The Essentials, on the other hand, is more laid-back and classically chic, with pendants, chains and celestial-inspired pieces coming covered with cascades of Swarovski crystals.
“We feel honored to be partnering with an iconic fashion house such as Karl Lagerfeld,” Markus Langes-Swarovski, a member of Swarovski’s executive board explained earlier this year. “Reflective of the creative vision of Karl Lagerfeld, the collection was developed with cutting-edge design elements and superior quality, which perfectly complement the existing categories. We look forward to maximizing our licensing partnership together.”
The collaboration between Swarovski and Karl Lagerfeld is a highly anticipated collection for the former, as Swarovski has been planning to renovate itself for a few months now. Actually, the so-called Lagerfeld tie-up is Swarovski’s new method of taking the brand recognition to a brand new level, reaching a wider customer base. In addition, the brand tapped Karlie Kloss as its new brand ambassador, as well as announced an iconic collaboration with designer Jean Paul Gaultier.
Although the Karl Lagerfeld x Swarovski collaboration appears to be a greater deal for Swarovski, Karl Lagerfeld’s chief executive officer Pier Paolo Righi revealed the German designer is more than thrilled about the partnership, and cannot wait to officially launch it later this autumn.
“Karl is the man of accessorization and jewelry, it was therefore the next natural step for us to expand our product range with a fashion jewelry collection. Swarovski, with their significant expertise, makes the perfect partner for us and we look forward to launching the first collection this fall,” Righi explained.
As for us, we cannot wait to finally take a closer look at all the Karl Lagerfeld x Swarovski jewelry pieces!
