1970’s look

Brigitte Bardot is so much more than just an actress, singer, and model. She was known as being one of the most gorgeous, glamorous women of all time. While her status as a “sex symbol” lasted throughout the decades, her looks changed a bit with the style throughout the 50s, 60s, and 70s. So, here I am going to show you how to achieve the Brigitte Bardot 1970’s look for yourself.

If you haven’t, be sure to check out my 1950’s look and my 1960’s look.

Step 1: Foundation

Apply a light coat of cream foundation on the face and neck. For this video, I used the Cinema Secrets palette from the 300 series.
I used the color 300-65.

Step 2: Darker Foundation

With a darker tone of foundation, give the face a little warmth and a light contour on the cheeks, jawline, and the sides of the forehead. For this, I used the color 306-73 in the same Cinema Secrets palette.

Step 3: Powder

Set everything extremely well with Makeup Forever Loose Powder #00. Then, with a powder brush, remove any excess powder.

Step 4: Eyebrows

Brush the eyebrows upwards and set with hairspray or eyebrow gel. (In the 70’s, Brigitte Bardot had almost no eyebrows because the trend was over-plucking them. We didn’t want to do that to our model, so we kept them natural. )

Step 5: Prime the Eyes with Eyeshadow

Next, apply the eye shadow. The shade “Undercover” from the LORAC Unzipped Eye Shadow Palette was applied over the entire lid and brow bone.

Step 6: Add a Bit of Shimmer Eyeshadow On Top

The 70’s were the first time period where women began using shimmer in their eyeshadow, so be sure to add some shimmering eyeshadow on top of your base eyeshadow.

Step 7: Add Color to the Crease

Add the color “Uncensored” in the same LORAC Unzipped palette to the crease of your eyes.

Step 8: Frame the Eyes with Eyeliner

Frame the eyes up and down with the Charlotte Tilbury Rock ‘n’ Kohl eyeliner.

Step 9: Smudge the Eyeliner

Gently smudge the eyeliner so it’s not as harsh.

Step 10: Apply the Under-Eye Shadow

Use the bronze eyeshadow color from Charlotte Tilbury’s Golden Goddess Palette to blend the eye shadow both in the crease and on the bottom eyelid. You see, Bardot had a perfectly smudged bedroom look. Her makeup wasn’t perfect.

Step 11: Intensify the Black Eyeliner

Use the same eyeliner pencil to make the black eyeliner darker.

Step 12: Apply the First Coat of Mascara

Apply 1 coat of black mascara to the top lashes. Legendary Lashes Mascara by Charlotte Tilbury is always our mascara of choice.

Step 13: Apply the Second Coat of Mascara

Apply the second coat of the same mascara. You should make it a little clumpy, as was the style of the 70s.

Step 14: Line the Lips

Line the lips in Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat in the color Iconic Nude.

Step 15: Frame the Lips

Frame the lips with Gleam Lip Radiance by Melanie Mills in the color Naked.

Step 16: Apply Blush

Apply the color Wisteria from the Becca Blushed with Light Palette.

Step 17: Apply Highlighter to the Cheekbones

Apply a light amount of highlighter to the top of the cheekbones. Blend it all well. We used the Ginny Cosmetics Ivory Tower Palette #506.

Step 18: Highlight the Brow Bones

Use the same highlighter to highlight the brow bones.

Step 19: Clump the Bottom Eyelashes

With the same mascara, clump your bottom lashes.

There you have it! That gives us our final Brigitte Bardot 70’s look. Flip through the images below, and be sure to post photos of your Brigitte Bardot look!
