How to Give Yourself a Sexy Wavy Hairstyle

While there are many different ways to create wavy hair looks, today I am going to show you one of my favorites. The thing that makes this tutorial so different is the angle in which I am curling the hair. In the past, I have curled my hair with a 1.5-inch curling iron in a flat, horizontal angle. Today, I am curling my hair with the same 1.5-inch size but with the angle of the curl different. By keeping the curling iron at a diagonal angle (close to vertical but not fully), the look I create comes out completely different.

Step 1: Add Extensions

If you are going to add extensions to your hair, do so now. In this video, I am using the “Sunset Blonde” shade of Cashmere Hair.

Step 2: Separate Hair

Lift all of your hair up except the very bottom layer. Work in bigger chunks with your hair so it looks more natural.

Step 3: Curl Your Hair

Using a curling iron with a 1.5-inch barrel, take bigger chunks and twist them around the barrel away from the face. Leave a couple of inches free at the bottom. Hold for a few seconds and then release. What’s important about this look is the angle of the curling iron. Keep it at a slight angle (mostly vertical but not fully). Keep pulling the chunks of hair forward, and be sure to get as close to your head with the curling iron as you can to create more volume.  Then, hairspray the chunks.

Step 4: Repeat Throughout Each Section

Repeat this curl throughout your entire head. When you get to the top hair, be sure to tease and spray before curling.

Step 5: Part Your Hair

Part your hair where desired. I usually keep my part in the center.

Step 6: Blend Your Hair Together

Shake your hair at the roots to blend all waves and extensions together. Use your fingers as a comb, which gives you more control.
