Monique Lhuillier’s Fall 2017 Bridal Collection Is Rife With Lingerie Touches
Designers Monique Lhuillier and Reem Acra are celebrating their brands’ 20 years in the fashion industry, and both are doing it with jaw-dropping bridal collections that could make anyone instantly say “yes’ to the dress. The latest Monique Lhuillier bridal fall 2017 collection was particularly celebratory and nostalgic, as the Filipino fashion designer drew inspiration from her very first bridal staples designed back in the Nineties.
Besides being heavily Nineties-inspired, all of the Monique Lhuillier fall 2017 bridal dresses exude inspiring girl power vibes, translated by the designer to appealing sensual lines, too. Interestingly, Monique Lhuillier also seemed to be inspired by her Monique Lhullier spring/summer 2017 ready-to-wear line-up too, as it was extremely delicate and flattering in the silhouettes as much as this latest bridal collection of hers.
“Girls are taking care of themselves now,’ she said backstage. “I wanted everything to feel a little sexier.’
Bodices, see-through fabrics and seductive plunging necklines were thus at the core of this bridal line-up, as they played a key role especially when intertwined with the many layered, cloudlike gowns. According to Lhuillier, the collection was “a fairytale with the whimsical sense of a fleeting moment, caught in time,” and just by looking at the ephemeral dynamicity of the staples, as well as the eclecticism of the figures, we couldn’t agree more.
Although A-line silhouettes are dominating here, Monique Lhuillier translated her Nineties-inspired collection to sinuous mermaid figures too, even revamping them at times with flamboyant hints of glamour, such as lace appliqués, floral embroideries and especially feathery hems and layers of fabrics.
Lhuillier’s combinations of lace and silk, as well as lingerie-like staples and more structured modern lines, helped create appealing drop-waisted and peplum figures too, the diversity of which indeed offers any bride-to-be the right amount of different silhouettes to choose from. With the self-confident, sensual woman being the focal point of this collection’s philosophy, Monique Lhuillier couldn’t, of course, refrain from trying to enhance every type of body possible.
The designer also unveiled a few more conventionally modest proposals, which show less skin but are equally sensual anyways.
To slightly break with tradition, Monique Lhuillier then revisited her notorious V-neckline dresses coming in different nude colors, which go all the way down from off-white to blush and “coffee’.
To top it all off, Monique Lhuillier elevated most of her staples with ultra sophisticated, unapologetically romantic bejeweled belts and ribbons, which just looked perfectly in tune especially with the silk embroidered lingerie-like bodices.
