Reem Acra Pre-Fall 2016 Collection
Reem Acra has always liked to play with glamour and modern concepts, and that’s why she has been riding high in the fashion industry since the late ‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö‚â§90s, when she first hit the runways with her fairy-tale-like bridal gowns. Known for her attention to details and modern style concepts, her designs are often seen at the most important red carpet events around the world, and the designer’s latest Reem Acra pre-fall 2016 collection features similar stunning creations, too.
The collection perfectly envisions the Lebanese designer’s style, mainly offering exquisitely beaded gowns and princess cocktail dresses that seem to be part of an authentic fairytale. Or should we say a contemporary fairytale, where the main protagonist attends a soigné ballet wearing a dreamy evening dress with strong modern vibes? Load of pleads and asymmetrically cut tulle gowns perfectly describe the theme of the collection, proving that one could indeed look like a princess without actually dressing like one.
Although being designed based on one common theme, the pieces included in the collection all feature different cuts and lines, which accentuate the designer’s ability to always reinvent herself while still staying true to her own fashion origins. We could especially spot such differences about the top parts of the frocks, which greatly vary in style. There are both sleeveless and long-sleeved tops, as well as embroidered and lace-patterned bodices. Reem Acra definitely enjoyed playing with different patterns and materials, alternating sensual see-through lace with sophisticated sweetheart corsets. Besides sweetheart necklines, the line-up also features both risqué plunging and romantically elegant bateau necklines, showing the great combinations of geometrical cuts that help balance the asymmetrical lines of the gowns.
The collection’s key pieces are the retro Twenties-inspired floor-length dress with silver embellishments, which might be regarded as a kind of mash-up between Pollock-style artistic techniques and a softer version of the Game of Thrones actual throne (please tell me I am not the only one who sees that); and the starry night structured frock, the glittery golden bodice of which gives dreamy starry motifs to the overall gown design.
Although golden and midnight blue are the main colors the Reem Acra pre-fall 2016 collection focuses on, the line-up also features an off-white long dress and a black voluminous frock with lace patterns, but also delicate gold and silvery luxurious strings of paint. Judging from these designs, we are probably about to admire some of Reem Acra’s most mind-blowing collections next year!
