Calvin Klein Fall/Winter 2015-2016 Collection – New York Fashion Week
It was a full house when the gorgeous fur coats began to walk out, followed by the dresses in almost brick-like design. The 1970s were in without a doubt, if the fringed camel hues of the dresses were any indication. We know what to expect from Calvin Klein but the brand never fails to impress us with its chic attitude, its focus on detail and its use of black coloring. This time around, for the Calvin Klein fall/winter 2015-2016 collection, it was a combination of the black and the camel hues that made it onto the runway during one of the last shows of the New York Fashion Week fall 2015. We saw lots of leather, lots of fur and even a dark red coat or two that glistened as the model walked the runway. The black and white numbers certainly caught our attention, especially when the larger keyholes on the chest began to appear. Furthermore, so many of the pieces had a leather lined area on the chest that was either full of buttons or clasps keeping the fabric together.
We had lots of thicker heels that appeared to look like mules, while the collection began with thigh high leather boots that looked as if they were moulded onto the models’ bodies. We saw fiery marble dark ankle boots with low heels, while leather shoes in black seemed to dominate the floor, showing off a sliver of skin at the edge of the toes. There were some velvet boots that were worn onto the catwalk as well, alongside pretty half boot designs that covered only up to half the calf.
Slits appeared in abundance, in front and in back. Sometimes, it was a matter of creating the illusion of culottes or trousers in general, though it was the single frock that has us enthralled, the sheaths that fell to around the ankles with their simple fabrics, little fringes marking the hems. There was lots of ankle cropped wide legged pants to behold as well, a surprise for us who would have expected more fitted features from Calvin Klein.
The American fashion house established in 1968 is now owned by Phillips-Van Heusen and offers a wide variety of stylish pieces to wear for men and women; these include but are not limited to top end designer pieces, basic fashion and a sportswear line, denim styles that certainly look good on us, home accessories including bedding and bath pieces, a golf collection, jewelry and watches, as well as the famous underwear by Calvin Klein. Of course, they also have fragrances, which are quite alluring and often found in many a women’s scent collection at home.
We have always loved Calvin Klein and will continue to look for the brand’s latest in runway shows for they always have the quality and the appeal one would expect from such a sexy label. It is interesting to see the toning down of the sex appeal, despite the fact that CK has long been associated with utilizing sexual innuendos in its advertisements and collections. The sexiest things got this time around were the mini hems on some of the dresses and the larger keyholes along the bust of the chest. Not that we’re complaining, of course, for we have learned over the years that few brands even come close to competing with the look and feel of the Calvin Klein women’s line.
