Alice + Olivia Spring/Summer 2015 Collection – New York Fashion Week
Famous fashion labels continue presenting us their collections for spring/summer 2015 at New York Fashion Week. New York based fashion company Alice + Olivia is among them and we absolutely love the Alice + Olivia spring/summer 2015 collection inspired by the Versailles. Although initially the company was mainly known for designing a wide range of pants for women and girls, today we can see dresses, skirts, jackets, footwear and accessories at Alice+Olivia boutiques (the brand also designs clothes for men and kids). Every new collection offered by the brand’s designer Stacey Bendet is different from the previous one, although in every single one of them we can see the designer’s love for modern musical genres and the vintage fashion style of the ‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö‚â§50s and the ‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö‚â§70s.
The designer names her trip to the Palace of Versailles as the main source of inspiration for the new Alice + Olivia spring/summer 2015 collection presented at New York Fashion Week. For the atmosphere to be more royal and Versailles-like, the catwalk had been designed to look like a garden and one of the models was sporting a dress resembling those worn by Marie Antoinette.
The collection itself was playful, but also sophisticated and elegant: high waisted short pants in stripes paired with a V-neck blouse and a bottom down short jacket, a deep V neck dress with side slits, off shoulder mini dresses with flowery prints, simple white tank tops with maxi dresses in the same print, a deep V-neck dress resembling a robe with a slit over the left thigh, lacey pants with a sheer blouse and lacey jacket worn over it, accordion dresses with black and white prints, simple white shorts paired with a sleeveless bottom down blouse reaching just above knees and simple black mini cocktail dress are some of the stunning pieces available in the collection. The color palette here mainly revolved around black and white, the pieces were intricately detailed and well-thought. As a recurring neckline pattern, V-necks adorned half of the pieces.
The second part of the show brought us more colors and patterns: ivory shorts that were very ‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö‚â§70s combined with V-neck long sleeve patterned green blouses, dresses of the same material, high waisted maxi dresses in colorful flowery print paired with a striped blue and white shirt, a combination of shorts, a blouse and en elegant jacket all in yellow flower print (reminds you of a painting by Van Gogh, doesn’t it?), bright orange knife pleated miniskirts with a smart shirt topped by a transparent blouse adorned with shimmery flower patterns, light purple long A line skirts paired with a red shirt and beige sweater in floral prints, and long wide legged orange pants.
Bendet’s new collection also included perfectly gorgeous evening gowns, like that spaghetti strap shimmery one, the off-shoulder maxi dress patched with red and white lines, a couple of blue shift mini dresses with animal prints, a half sleeved golden mini dress embellished with silky pieces and so on. Bendet had another surprise for art lovers, this time for fauvism enthusiasts: an A line white dress printed with Henri Matisse’s Blue Nude (we can’t even start to describe how much we loved it).
Well, what a diverse and colorfully-packed collection! High heeled sandals and exquisitely detailed handbags added even more charm to the Alice + Olivia spring/summer 2015 collection and we genuinely believe there was something for everyone in this new Alice + Olivia collection.
